On 420, Majority of Americans Say They Don't Support Full Legalization (Sorry Stoners)

Zack is patriotic.
On this most sacred of California holidays, it's sad to learn that the rest of America just doesn't appreciate marijuana the way we do.

So as we bow down to the bong, let us commiserate over the latest CNN/Opinion Research survey, which shows that 56 percent of our fellow citizens across the land do not want to legalize it.

That contradicts our feelings in the Golden State, where a slight majority of us favor legalization, even though ...

... we voted against it when we had a chance in November.

According to CNN only 41 percent of Americans support making weed fully legit.

Interestingly (strangely?), the more educated and wealthy Americans are, the more likely they are to support cannabis decriminalization, at least according to the survey.

Of those making $50,000 a year or more, support was at 44 percent; for those who make less support was at 38 percent. Among the college educated support was at 46 percent. No college? 36 percent.

See, weed smokers are smarter. Happy holiday.

It's all about money and the truth is more disturbing than any of us could imagine. I'm sure of it. It's interesting how in Afghanistan, the production of opium has increased since the US occupation and in turn increasing their heroine export$. It's sickening to think that there's a correlation, but then again to deny it is absolutely foolish. I wish more people would stand up and say something against the so called "Drug War". It's time for it to end today!!! I can't believe our government is being bought off by Drug Lords and War Lords. This is not a democracy. It is a joke. There are more people imprisoned in the U.S. than any other country in the WORLD!!! I'm in awe at the audacity of some of the stuff they try to feed us and it is only getting worse. Now they will divert your attention to the abuse of prescription pain medications. When will it end? We should all be protesting in the streets to end the Drug War today and to bring our men and women in uniform home. Those who sacrifice their lives so OPEC can keep importing oil and drug lords can keep sending in their money. It's a crime of epic proportions. If this article is true, which I doubt it is.. most Americans are sick of the failed drug war and it's not about the "Stoners" it's about innocent people being killed and or incarcerated every single day. It's about more Americans being imprisoned than any other country in the World!!!! Please see the $400 Billion laundered by "Wachovia" and the slap on the hand, or Google Max Keiser and his take on "America's Drug War".... It's a big joke. Find your news from other sources.

It must become more difficult to accept the collateral consequences of prohibiting substance abuse as one becomes more aware of the facts surrounding the "war on drugs." Just taking into account the number of dollars spent on incarceration for simple possession offenses, in my mind, provides a justification for decriminalization (at the very least). Trafficking or sales is a different issue altogether, but I think there is a strong economic argument for the legalization of Marijuana and the decriminalization of simple possession of most prohibited substances.

Marijuana is the safest drug with actual benefits for the user as opposed to alcohol which is dangerous, causes addiction, birth defects, and affects literally every organ in the body. Groups are organizing all over the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws. I drew up a very cool poster for the cause which you can check out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot... Drop in and let me know what you think!
