Michelle Lozano: Nude Teen's Body Found Near 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights

A nude body discovered at the side of a freeway off-ramp in Boyle Heights belongs to a 17-year-old girl, authorities said late Tuesday.

LAPD officials told TV news crews Tuesday the girl had tattoos. Her remains were found 11:40 p.m. Monday in a plastic tub in the bushes next to the State Street off-ramp of the southbound 5 freeway in Boyle Heights, according to police and reports.

Some outlets, including KTLA News, stated it appeared the container fell or was pushed from a moving vehicle.

The container was broken and open when they came upon it, cops said.

The girl's identity was not released.

Police originally said the victim appeared to be homeless.

Update: She has been identified as 17-year-old Michelle Lozano of Boyle Heights.

Update No. 2: According to an LAPD statement issued Wednesday afternoon, " ... The victim had been wrapped in plastic bags and stuffed in a plastic container. The container had then been dumped over a concrete barrier along the freeway. When it hit the ground, the container broke open and spilled the girl's body into the shrubs."

While the 5 foot, 6 inch, 130 pound girl has "distinctive tattoos," the LAPD would not confirm the identity published here and elsewhere.

Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma.

Sad story, poor girl I hope she doesn't suffer. But one thing surprises me that the police said there is no obvious signs of trauma on the girl's body. Remember she was found naked, no trauma on body clearly showed that she didn't fought back. Which that means she was unconscious during her final moment, just my opinion.

I beleive it is Hollendbeck police department not the police department stated we need to all report this to the Hollenbeck police departments are children are not safe i have reported this but nothing has been done the killers live at 6311 Mayflower in Bell California and at 11716 Gurley Ave in Downey where the young girl had relatives

OK this story has been haunting me for a while. My bf and I got into taking bike rides and decided the night before, to take a bike ride. It was around 8pm and at the time it was dark cause they hadent changed the clocks forward yet. I noticed a pretty girl that matches her picture and description wallking on first st right after the overpass and I said to him ' she's too young and pretty to be walking around here, she could get killed" and we kept on going, I noticed she looked at me beforehand. This might have been her and when I heard the news I cringed! Girls, please please dont walk around at night, no matter what. This is truly disturbing to me. RIP Michelle

I live on the next block from where the body was found, i've lived here all my life and things had gotten much better than in the 90's. I hope whoever did this gets caught soon. i cant beleive how a human beeing could ever do this to another.Jme, i lnow you maybe are trying to help, but honestly you are making things worse, regardless of grammar or spelling, the point here is someone murdered someone, Michelle was someones daughter, someone's sister, someone's best friend, and her family is in pain. there is no point in assuming or trying to create a story of how it happend, thats what forensics are for and we should let them do their job.

I pray for the family my deepest sympathies and condolences to them.in the video footage the mother states that someone among the people who were there may know something, dont be cowards, si saben algo hablen!. el dolor de una madre es lo mas dificil de superar. Help Michelle find her peace. And help Michelle's mother put an end to this nightmare.

JME As a former profiler my professional opinion is that some time in your childhood you were punked by some homies. Could be they took your lunch money, took your little girlfriend, but you have issues with respect for the friends and family of this young girl. You wet the bed most likely till you were a teenager. when girls murder girls it's usually someone that's close to them. Girls, even when killing, are carefull to not mess up the victim's face. Unless it's a personal love triangle situation. The fact that she was moved from the crime location and dumped indicates that 2 or more people are involved. The fact that she was naked indicates a possiblilty that she was sexually assaulted or involved sexually at the time of her death. Another reason for her being nude would be to hide or destroy evidense. A few of the top motives for murdering a 17 yr old female are 1-over a boy, 2-over a girl(lesbian?) 3-drugs, 4-testifying against someone in court: I'm not making any accusations, just giving a little ensight to those who have posted their theories. I am sorry for the young lady, Michelle may you R.I.P. and may the lord comfort her mourning family and friends.The truth will eventually surface and justice will be done.

Bottom line about jme is that the police should look into some of his/her comments. He/she knows too much about the crime that was not release publically and this may be his/her way of bragging about something that he/she did or participated in. I knew Michelle from Hillside Elementary and she was a very nice and polite little girl. I hope that the police look into jme's postings because again he/she knows more about this crime than what the police released. I would venture to say that he/she knows who did it and why.
