Bryan Stow's long-hair past.
Bryan Stow, a Bay Area paramedic and San Francisco Giants fan who was beaten in a horrible attack on opening day at Dodger Stadium, has a criminal record that includes convictions for assault, possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence, records sent to the Weekly appear to reveal.

Stow's family addressed the issue over the weekend, saying that "Bryan was not perfect" and adding that the incidents happened about 20 years ago.

A tipster tells the Weekly that Stow's record includes ...

... an assault conviction for allegedly hitting a spouse, and a DUI conviction that involved drugs, not alcohol.

The reported convictions were out of Santa Cruz.

"Bryan Stow has a history of violence and drug abuse," the tipster alleged.

His family, which recently received a donation from Barry Bonds as a part of their effort to collect money to defray Stow's medical expenses, stated this on Sunday:

... There has been comments and postings regarding Bryan's past. Bryan was not perfect...nobody is. In the 20 years since, Bryan turned his life around; became a father and settled into a career of helping people. Regardless of his history, he in NO way deserved this. His children most certainly did not deserve it.

We ask for respect for Bryan, our family and especially Bryan's children who were put in this situation without just cause and ask that everyone refrain from posting any judgemental comments.

They're right, of course. There's no indication that Stow provoked his attackers. He was simply wearing Giants garb when two cowards beat on him and ended up putting him in a coma (he came out and was transferred to a San Francisco hospital).

The dirt comes as a growing legal team has been attached to suspect Giovanni Ramirez and his family, with lawyers saying he has an alibi the day Stow was attacked:

Ramirez's 10-year-old daughter apparently says the suspect was with her at home that day.

We can assume that, as this case plays out in the media, more dirt will be thrown.

It doesn't matter if he provoked these guys or not... it's a damn baseball game and no one deserves to be beaten like Bryan Stow was!! Who cares if he had long hair in the past... is that really relevant???

The only time cave n!@@ers aka whites have a problem with violence is when they are on the receiving end.  Stow got a Rodney King style beat down.  Stow himself is a violent individual.  Those friends of Stow ran rather then try to help.  A young girl in the state of Florida was stomped and kicked by white thug wearing a pair of steel toe boots till she was comatose.  Josie Ratley is her name, luckily she lived and is now in recovery.  Hopefully Stow will recover as well.

"This man's criminal history could not be more irrelevant to any elements of the crime against him" lol of course it does! A guy with a substance abuse and assualt problem lol petty crime? lol why dont you ask the wife he beat up if it was a petty crime. If every person the LAPD thinks beat up Stow is going is going to have their character up to be judged by everyone, innocent or not, then bring Stow's up as well. Not everyone is as big of a victim has the one0sided media makes them out to be. But nice try..

You are obviously "lol" too hard to use your brain at the same time. What don't you understand about the standards a Paramedic is held to? Would you call 9-1-1 if you believed that the medic coming to save you or your family member's life has a "substance abuse" and "assault problem"??? 20+ years ago!!! If you notice, his ex-wife and Mother of his children has been nothing but supportive throughout Bryan's recovery efforts, so she obviously feels they worked through their past. The media wasn't present to witness this vicious crime, and neither were you or I, so "nice try".

I agree that something doesn't quite make sense about Stow's friend's account to this story, but it's really irrelevant. The indisputable fact is that Stow suffered serious brain damage from this cowardly attack, and that's really the only thing that matters. Everything else is just immaterial back story (including whether his friends are cowards or not).

You have to be pretty hard up for a career to write a story like this.  Everything in this article is completely irrelevant.  It's like you are justifying his beating.  I don't even know this Dennis Romero, but I know now that he is a low-life!

You can read the first hand account of the event per one of Bryan's friends, and understand how fast everything happened. One of them was also punched in the face, andwhy can't people understand the vicious nature of the attack once Bryan was clearly unconscious? The shock must have been terrifying, and he and his friends did not travel to the game to fight. You think they don't feel bad for not doing more? I'm sure they do but no one can judge what we would do in the heat of a moment like this. I'll also repeat what I said to another poster, how can you be sure these guys weren't armed? The results are what they are now, and all we can do is pray and hope the offenders are caught and prosecuted for attempted murder.

Care to change your tune?

I personally wouldn't "change my tune" about this gang-banging, probably illegal, anchor baby makin' machine. He's wanted in Nevada & I hope they get him next. So he didn't hurt Bryan, but you bettter believe he doesn't live a life you or I would, and has hurt many many people in his life. He's not in prison for this crime, but he is there for GOOD reason and the people of LA should be glad there's one more of them off the street. For the people who think he should now profit from the LAPD investigation, he was never charged in the assault case. So they smeared his name because he resembled the offender, what's to smear? He is an evil being that is right where he belongs. Now that one of his girlfriends is also off the street for trafficking meth, we're even better off. The victims are the children that these scum bags think they have the right to continue to bring into this world for us to support while they continue to commit felonies.. So tell him; Ok you're off the hook for this one, but I bet you any amount of money that once he's released again, he'll go right back in within months. Let's just pray he doesn't kill someone.

Then you sir are ignorant.  I have been to MANY games and if you dare to wear the opposite teams gear, you are taunted many times from the get go...SIMPLY FOR WEARING THE OTHER TEAMS GEAR!  I have experienced this (thankfully not to this degree).  It is very sad that you can not go and support your team of choice with out worring about your saftey.

That video was COMPLETELY labeled wrong.  The dodgers fan was very aggressive.  You can see Bryan put his hands up as if to say hey, I'm just here to enjoy the game.

I've seen the video. It makes me wonder what Bryan was doing before the camera started rolling that made that Dodgers fan get so angry. I've been to a lot of games and have never seen someone get that angry at another person unless provoked.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood me. That is exactly what I was saying. I wanted people to watch it so they could see Bryan taking a "we don't want any trouble" posture.

Actually, this is a reply to AZEMS.

Photos clearly show the four lunkheads posing for the camera:

This is nothing but simple math.  Four against two, even if Stow was attacked from behind, where the HELL were his "friends"?

@ Smedley DUI and Spousal abuse are petty crimes? How do you know he was a good man? Because he was a Giants fan?

No genius. Because those crimes were 20+ yrs. ago, he is a Paramedic with two beautiful children that he shares with his ex-wife, and had obviously cleaned up his act. Go to his family's website and see what kind of family he comes from, and the support he has from the nationwide AMR family and EMS in general. Not sure about you, but I wasn't perfect in my 20s, and the DV details are beteween him and the woman. You must understand that sh*t happens........so karma got him for pushing a woman 20yrs ago? I highly doubt that. Why can't we just hope he recovers, and that his attackers are punished accordingly?support4bryanstow.com
