A Southern California man who sold ecstasy to a former high school classmate who later died of an overdose got 20 years behind bars.

The harsh sentence was the "mandatory minimum" under a federal law that states drugs you sell to someone who then dies after using them will put you behind bars for two decades.

They were apparently a particularly strong strain of E, and she had a seizure and died.

Bada pleaded guilty late last year to distribution of a drug resulting in death.

Both went to Rancho Bernardo High School in northeastern San Diego County.

Luna's mother, Dorina Torres, told the U-T: "It was a mistake that cost her her life."

It's pretty girl syndrome. When a crackhead prostitute dies from a drug overdose, no one goes after the drug dealer. When a pretty girl dies from her own stupidity, the dealer is the first to go.

You have no idea what that kid is in for, and he's obviously no criminal. Doctors knowingly overprescribe narcotics that kill people on a daily basis. Can we now send them to jail for 20 years??!!!!!! He didn't hold a gun up to her head and force her to eat the shit. She was a big girl and she made her own decision. you are absolutely right! i know child molesters,murders and rapist that get less time. this law is a shame. that female that died was an adult not a minor. she was not disabled in any way. he didn't put a gun to her head and make her do it. he should not be accountable someone should start a petition. my heart goes out to her family but this is a great example on why people should not even try any drugs- you don't know how they will affect your body!

That's crap. If someone sells you a gun and you shoot yourself in the head with it, should they go to jail for selling you a "particularly strong bullet"? She bought it, she took it, it wasn't laced with poison or anything. It was her decision.

Does it suck? Yes. Should the guy get 20 years for it? No.
