Arnold's Love Child: In Defense of Schwarzenegger

Categories: Media

schwarzenegger pot 2.JPG
Here we are, on the Western cliff of this great democratic experiment we call America, where diversity, technology and new liberties (medical marijuana, for example), keep us on the utter edge of human evolution.

And we're obsessed with ... a guy who had sex with the Guatemalan help.

Sure, it ain't cool, especially for a man who wasn't especially friendly to immigrants when he was in the governor's office. But, really, this is no big deal. Here's why:

We're still looking at a $10 billion deficit, more than one in ten people unemployed, and a horrific public schools system.

These are real issues.

E!
The other woman and the house that Arnold reportedly bought for her.

Focusing on Arnold Schwarzenegger's lady problems is provincial. While we're progressive in so many ways, Europe seems light years ahead of us in terms of focusing on real issues.

We're not going to apologize for Silvio Berlusconi or say we need more philanderers in office. But we have much bigger fish to fry. And the only reason legitimate publications like the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times even care about Arnold's love child is because he held the highest office in this great state.

But here's the thing, and we know we're going to get shit for saying it:

Powerful men screw around.

In fact, men in general screw around. The nature of a male is to spread his seed. Certainly, that's not productive for men in a committed relationship, or those with children and families. But that's the absolute biological truth.

It's utterly hypocritical for this land of progress to ignore the nature of men. The focus on a man's sexual wandering is almost bizarre in the face of much more important issues like allegedly bad people who could have been in prison walking the streets, higher education costs that are pricing the middle class out of the University of California, and K-12 schools you wouldn't want to send your worst enemy to.

Schwarzenegger's biggest failing wasn't in his home life. It was promising the people of California he'd do a better job than Gray Davis -- that he, as an outsider, would fix the omnipresent deficit, make the Golden State a better place for business and kick the lobbyists out of the governor's office.

He didn't do any of that. He was full of shit. And we're all the worse for it.

Arnold screwed around. And he paid for it. Literally. He can afford it. It was his choice. Get over it, California.

It's one area where Europe and Latin America have it right. It's a non-issue.

Dude you're an idiot! You're an idiot for having the bals to write this article. To state that "powerful men screw around" or "men in general screw around" and the "nature of men is to spread his seed" is a gross assessment of yourself. You should not assume that the general population of men ar elike you. Real men do not screw around, they live their lives with virtue and integrity, and strive to great things with their families at the forefront of their goals and aspirations. Your article may be YOUR self assessment, but hear me now, low caliber people or "bottom feeders" simply live their lives to "spread their seeds", and for the sake of the female gender, "lay their eggs", however be careful when using the term MEN. Real men live their lives with respect to their bodies, their loved ones, and the people around them. MEN are less concerned with screwing around and more concerned at becoming leaders of their families. You obviously have placed government ABOVE family values, for which you have not..

Except he twice vetoed other peoples right to be together, so no, lets not forgive the asshat.

Why!!
Why!!

We also have the highest per capita imprisonment rate in the world, so apparently you are ignorant or hold stock in a major prison industrial complex?

Take ten men and ten women.  Explain to me the sleeping arrangements by which the men are more promiscuous than the women.  You can't.  (Rape and homosexuality don't count in this, because they are never part of the discussion when this claim of roaming men and pure women is made.)

Women are **exactly** as promiscuous as men.

When your cultural bias contradicts basic mathematics, you might consider reexamining your cultural bias.  Of course, this is just another example of Americans' complete irrationality about all matters sexual, which kind of brings us back to the original (otherwise spot on) topic.

He was too busy focusing on "his domestic issues" to focus on "California's issues."

The author forgets that  Governor is to the state what President is to the country.  Just as the president has no real power to set domestic policy (make laws) the governor has no real power to set spending policy.  That power lies in the legislature not the executive office.  They want to blame people blame their legislature.

Let's remember that he came into office not only as a "family man" that doesn't grope women, (and that fiction was promoted to the voters by his naive or ambitious wife) but also as a populist tax-cutter giving DMV fees refunds. His hypocrisy is as constant as his narcissism.

He married "a Kennedy" to promote himself.  The mystery is why he wanted to screw this butt ugly, fat woman.

Leave him be....he didn't want to leave Maria then or now.  Why did he have the affair?...who knows..but all men have desire and some cannot control that urge.. so what ...Americans are obsessed with the sex lives of the famous and it's stupid....people are human and things happen ......wake up and get over it ....Maria if you love him ...forgive it and move on... Divorce is not the answer....I just lost my husband to cancer...at 52 years old....I would give anything to have him back.....I could forgive anything to hold him in my arms again.....why throw away marriage and Love because of a mistake....Arnold didn't leave you then and doesn't want to leave you now.....how would you feel if he died?....think about that for  awhile. Hope you both work it out.

If we relied on the reasoning of dimwits like you, there would always be a more pressing problem, somewhere. Stupid post.

"We're still looking at a $10 billion deficit, more than one in ten people unemployed, and a horrific public schools system."

And?  What exactly is the common man supposed to do about that?  I can't do anything to fix the deficit.  What I can do is gawk and giggle at someone having sex with the maid and gossip about his illegitimate son.

I used to think like you, until I realized that without this distracting nonsense, we'd all have offed ourselves years ago.  Let the common people have something to keep them entertained, for gods sake.

The reality is this was done 14 years ago while a private citizen making dumb movies. This is not about a right to know, but a tabloid story. I mean can this story be anymore cliche with a man and the housekeeper?

Second, this woman was married at the time as well. I have an issue with the fact she has yet to finalize that divorce. Could the husband have been in on it? Is he getting money too?

Finally, Maria is not really a victim here as much as an enabler. Either she kept her head buried in the sand not wanting to see the truth of his philandering ways, or she knew and helped him cover up the mess.

Either way, heck, Hollywood is filled with bastard kids the media doesn't know about. They will have their field day today and then move on to someone else's trash. What you have seen is the news media become a tabloid. It is painful to watch, but we knew it was coming.

Is it only MEN that like to screw around? Pretty sure women also enjoy sex enough to lust after multiple partners...why is this something that men get a passport to?

Article starts from a valid place but loses platform when writer infuses his own personal agenda. We get it, you wish you lived in Brazil where prostitutes don't use condoms or Italy where a husband will share his wife with you or France where cheating is no big deal. So move ... readers won't notice. It's a non-issue.

i don't know that i agree with everything said here, but i think it is definitely true that people should be giving schwarzie shit for his horrible record as governor over this "scandal". as a governor, he was incompetent and that's why our state is in the mess it's in. as well as being a non-issue, none of this can be a surprise to anyone with more than three functioning brain cells.

What could he have done to force the legislature to do the right thing?  Please share.  He has no power to do such a thing.

"A man's wondering"? I think you mean "wandering".

And to Dennis Romero's girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/lifepartner: I would check his text messages - sounds like Dennis might be fooling around.
