Atheists Have More Fun in Bed Than Mormons, But L.A.'s Porn Industry Teaches Their Kids About the Birds And The Bees

Sinners enjoy themselves more when they sin, apparently. While it might seem self-evident that the religious don't enjoy breaking the rules, a pair of University of Kansas researchers got to the bottom of this situation recently.

Here's the deal: Not all sex is sin. But how many of us are having it with married partners in order to procreate? Okay then. Atheists do it better. Or at least they enjoy it more, according to Darrel Ray and Amanda Brown's "Sex and Secularism" survey.

Why? You can blame ...

... religious guilt among church/temple/mosque-goers and lack thereof for many of the rest.

Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentecostals, Seventh Day Adventists, and Baptists had the highest amount of guilt, according to the survey of 14,500 people.

Low-guilt fornicators included Catholics and Lutherans, but atheists and agnostics were the most likely not to have hangups about getting down.

Eighty percent of the religious felt guilty about specific positions and acts.

Almost one out of four people who said they were raised in strict, religious families reported feeling guilty for masturbating.

The downside to being a fancy free atheist? Kids raised in nonreligious homes were more likely to learn about how it all works through ... porn.

Glad L.A.'s other film industry could contribute the education of American children.

You're mistaken about : "The downside to being a fancy free atheist? Kids raised in nonreligious homes were more likely to learn about how it all works through ... porn."

The results actually say the opposite, that kids raised in MORE religious homes are MORE likely to learn about sex from porn. The report speculates that it is due to the more religious being uncomfortable discussing sex with their children. And the less religious having less of a problem with this.

From the actual Sex and Secularism Report:

Even more interesting is the next highest sourceof information. Pornography is 33% for the religious group and 25.2% for the nonreligious. Most religions preach incessantly against pornography, yet it is the religiouschildren in this sample that used it more. Finally, the internet is a key source ofinformation for the religious kids 31.4% vs. 27.1% for the less religious. It appears that the things religions preach against most - sexual experimentation, pornography and the internet - are what religious kids may use the most, while failing totalk to their parents. Non-religious kids seem to be following the religious proscriptionsbetter than the religious ones.

where's your evidence for this? I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case.

I disagree. The Name of the Game is Sin and Redemption. Can't have one without the other...
