This is not about legislating people's personal sexual behavior. This is about safety in the work-place. Construction workers are required to wear helmets on job sites. Porn actors need to protect themselves from dangers as well. When not working, they can do whatever they want.
I think its pretty sad the amount of people saying that condoms shouldn't be required in porn. I do understand the whole "its my body" thing, but I think this is more about the customer being so selfish about getting their rocks off that they don't care about a porn performer getting an STD. I AT LEAST thing condoms should be required for anal scenes. I think that's fair. All this bareback that is coming up in gay porn makes me want to vomit.

I have seen porn made with actors using condoms, back in the late 80s/early 90s. Hated it so much that I went back to watching the stuff from the 70s. Was glad to return to the condom-less porn with actors being tested instead of practicing "safe sex." This is porn! We don't want to see a public service announcement! And yes the actors would lose ME as an audience because I would just watch older condom-less porn instead of the newer films. So point is well made.

Actually ALL of those girls are girl/girl only. If this was only about condoms, none of these performers would be affected. These regulations aren't just about condoms. It's about dental dams, gloves, and treating your clothes like hazardous waste. These rules are ridiculous.
I agree with the porn stars on this one; each person before a session has proof that they have been tested and are clean so why need the condoms? It's their job, and if they have proven that their system works then let them keep it and move on. Maybe this will teach average citizens it's okay to test themselves regularly and show it to partners; not to mention ask for proof of testing from other people.

LOL This is sad and funny at the same time. The logic of the policy makers in Cali is probably that pornstars not using condoms makes the rest of us think its ok to not use condoms. And I'd say that logic is mostly correct but forcing pornstars to use condoms will not solve this problem. It will only make things harder (NO pun intended) on those in the industry.

Did you actually read the post? I'm all for using condoms, 100%, but the government has no right to decide whether I do or do not use one. That is my choice. So long as they keep up regular STI testing (which any of the well paid porn stars would do, as they'd be out of a job otherwise), and keep other precautions (such as spermicide, taking the pill at the same time every day, etc.), it is their right and decision whether they use condoms or not, NOT the government's, and they should stay clean and healthy.
