I have gone to these raves for years. I call BS for the fact that they dodnt approve it. The incident that happen was sad it wasnt the promoters fault. Everyone knows their own fault. Since that happen the raves had been more secure. Also they put a proper age limit on it. Which I feel is a good thing. So bring the it back to the area.

Its a shame that EDC is not going to happen this year. It is one of the best concerts I have been to in my lifetime and a unique and different experience every time. It brings jobs and people together in hard financial times. Because one person overdosed does not mean that the concert should be shut down, overdoses happen all the time whether in a bar, club, on the street or in a concert, it is the individual not the event. I hope things will go back to how they used to be..

Yeah, I'm kinda confused about what the picture has to do with this article. And yeah it's a shame that the girl died, but that's what happens when people make bad decisions and promoters don't have adequate security to check people as they enter. I hope that this event and EDC aren't just banned from this venue in the future. Not going to lie, the videos of EDC 2010 looked like the crowd enjoyed themselves way more than the people at EDC 2011.

i just want to throw my two cents in here. go ventures and insomniac have been running unsafe and poorly managed over sold events at the coliseum/sports arena for the last 2 or 3 years. when a little girl died, the news picked it up and shined a light on the management of these events, and they were found to be lacking in every respect. so now its over.

l.v. was total bull crap. 14 miles from the event is where you'll stay. the crowd was whack with a lot of people that looked like they didn't even enjoy the music. that may be a general thing in the US now that raves are getting more popular, but ive never had anything bad to say about the events at the LA coliseum. just look at youtube videos from both EDC events, and you be the judge of the better event. fuck las vegas. california knows how to party

You are right, it is tragic that she passed, I don't know the circumstances of the death since they didn't release the toxicology findings. I've heard it was an X OD and I've heard that a friend gave her a water bottle that had THB in it and she guzzled like half of it not knowing what it was. So I cannot comment on the circumstances surrounding the death.

That being said, banning an event where tens of thousands of people go and one person dies from an accidental OD is foolish. Beyond that, it's a double standard. How many people have died over the last year because they fell out of the bleachers at ball parks? Like 3 or 4. Yet I don't see ball games being cancelled. How many people die every year because of drunk driving accidents coming home from the bars? I don't see bars being shut down.

I've been raving for the past 10 years (before you assume that I'm irresponsible or a druggie, you should know, I graduated from law school and I am currently studying for the CA bar) and every time I hear about an accidental OD, it saddens me. It saddens because A) No one deserves that, I don't care who you are, dying from an accidental OD, especially at 15 is tragic and B) Because it takes away from an event that fosters good will and vibes towards others. I can certainly understand if drugs and raves aren't your thing, but if you've ever been to a rave you would understand that the people there are just there to have a good time; I've been to countless raves over the past decade, I've probably seen as much violence at all those raves as I have in two or three nights at a bar.

Anyway, I know I'm most likely not going to change anyone's mind on this issue; these are issues/morals that are deeply entrenched. However, it's just a shame to see these great events that have been going on over the past decade be shut down because of one accidental death. That being said, it might be a blessing in disguise since I went to EDC Las Vegas and I thought it was by far the best run even I've ever been to and the location is perfect (relatively close to the strip and WIDE OPEN SPACE). So if California doesn't want to host these events and reap some reward out of it, Nevada will.
