Electric Daisy Carnival Death in Dallas Prompts Vegas Official to Call For Reevaluation of Policies Related to Rave's Move to Sin City

Dallas raver Andrew Graf died at EDC -- the second teen to do so in a year.
At least one Las Vegas official says "policies and procedures" related to an L.A. promoter's controversial rave in that city next weekend will be "reevaluated" following the death of a teenager at the Dallas edition of the party over the weekend.

Andrew Graf, 19, died at Electric Daisy Carnival Saturday night/Sunday morning, and reports indicate that another raver was in critical condition following the party, which some officials and reports described as "chaotic."

It's the same event that saw the subsequent ecstasy overdose death of 15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez in L.A. nearly one year ago.

That death put public officials who control the taxpayer owned L.A. Coliseum, where the rave was held, on notice, and EDC ultimately relocated to Vegas for a three-day event June 24.

While Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman was gung-ho about the event, saying it was L.A.'s loss, Clark County commissioner Steve Sisolak told Vegas station ABC 13 that the Dallas death warrants a review of policies regarding the rave:

As a result of what happened in Dallas. It's going to cause a reevaluation of all the policies and procedures that were anticipated coming to Las Vegas ... Anytime you bring a hundred to a hundred fifty thousand people in it's going have an economic impact, but there's no economic impact that offsets the loss of a life.

In Dallas high temperatures were reported, and as many as 30 people were reportedly hospitalized.

Ecstasy and high temps don't seem to mix and can lead to overheated partygoers -- and worse. The Vegas party is slated to start at 8 p.m. -- well after the heat of the day.

stupid uneducated people....sorry that dude died....yeah it sucks. He should have googled what Ecstasy does to your body and not have been a moron. I think to prevent the dummies from dropping like flies they should coral up the super dilated pupil people and have them talk to the police at these events and make them leave the event....you will never prevent tabs from being brought in to these things....can't sniff them out....but the shit eating grin on your face and flying saucer eyeballs are pure indicator they popped something. I am tired of having this drug topic coming up and bc I like the music I am lumped into the pill head groups. These little rugrats are messing it up for everyone! Do it like they do it in MIAMI for WMC and Ultraweek at the clubs and pool parties....21 and up. Partying is a priviledge!

people die everyday. its all about taking care and watching out for yourself. be smart know your limits, don't blame other people on your own stupidity. its a great festival and hands down they offer all the necessary supplies to keep you safe, if you don't use it it's your own fault. (No harm intended toward the man that died in dallas)

It is sad what happened to Andrew but it was not Insomniac (EDC)'s fault. Yes there were 4 indoor stages and it got hot in there because of the amount of people, but if you walked out of the main crowd the air conditioner was on full blast. When the sun went down it got rather cool outside. There was free water, you just had to have a container to put it in. You did not need to buy the metal bottles, in fact you could enter EDC with an unopened water bottle and refill it all night for free. I hate to say it for sounding insensitive but if drugs were involved, it is the responsibility of the person taking them to know what theyre doing and to know their limit. It also helps to have a "sitter", like a designated driver type, who will help you if you need it. There is really no need to ban things at EDC like light gloves (wtf!). EDC needs better search officers, the person who took my bag didnt search it AT ALL. I could have brought a gun in if I wanted to, just saying. Remember have fun but be safe. RIP Andrew...

I pretty much got stripped searched at EDC Denver, they even looked thru my wallet... bullshit. Warm water for $5, 2hour line for beer that u can't even walk around with. Fuck EDC, but death isn't their fault

I attended the Dallas event I can tell you firsthand that everything was ill planned. There was only ONE water refill station. and the bottles that were supposed to be "free upon entry" were 10$. the whole point of the water stations/ free bottles was to prevent what happened in La, and once again greedy promoters caused another death. Also, the headlining artist (skrillex) who drew the Entire crowd to the party was performing in an indoor stage that more than half the crowd rushed to at the beginning of his set. why would you put the biggest artist in an indoor room when there was a perfectly good outdoor stage with tons of room and fresh air that could have been used? Bad planning like i said.

I don't know where you thought there were going to be free water bottles, but that was never promised. They were actually supposed to be $16 for the very nice, metal, water bottles. You could have bought a regular bottle of water for $3 and had it refilled as needed.

As far as Skrillex stage, the reason is overcrowded is because the city closed the other building. It would have been fine if the other building would have remained open, but that was the fault of the city, not bad planning. It was just fine, except one person who made a bad choice, and then the city compounding it, caused these problems.

Pretty sure that cities don't close buildings for arbitrary reasons.  I think we can assume it's because they deemed it unsafe or unusable, probably not because they were just dicks.  If you're the promoter and you're using a building, and it doesn't open, um, that's on you.

I was in one of those other buildings they shut down for no reason  there was plenty of room. they shut it down for no reason, trust me.

Also, EDC has been coming to Denver for years now as well. We never had a death nor has it been shut down early. Our 2011 EDC happened two weekends ago and the new enforced age limits worked out great. These death's are horrible tragic but people need to be more responsible for their decisions and listening to their bodies' limits. I hope all this doesn't shut down EDC for all cities for good.

Ryan, you can make dumb blanket statements like that for any nightclub scene.

Just because some people do it does not make it the norm for everyone to do it, no matter how many dumb statements like Ryan's are posted.

do drugs at your own risk. it was hot, we had plenty of water available, first aid and paramedics if needed. Insomniac did well as far as providing us with as much assistance as possible. i had a great time at EDC!! keep it coming to Dallas. much love and prayer go out to those who unfortunately suffered, take care
