VIDEO: Bryan Stow, Dodger Stadium Beating Victim, Gets Into Fight on Opening Day (But Not With Giovanni Ramirez)

Update: Police confirm they're looking into the cell-phone-recorded confrontation.

As Santa Cruz paramedic Bryan Stow slowly recovers in a NorCal hospital (good news: The Giants fan has improved from "critical" to "serious" since transferring from L.A. last month), traces of his violent side continue to surface.

Of course, it goes without saying that no over-involved fan, no matter how rowdy, deserves the horrific, near-death beatdown that Stow received on Opening Day in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. But a video recently sent to TMZ suggests a territorial tiff could have started much earlier in the evening -- and not between Stow and top LAPD suspect Giovanni Ramirez.

The SWAT arrest of East L.A. resident Giovanni Ramirez in May was highly publicized as a heroic takedown. Justice has been served, declared a full house of city officials, for an innocent Giants fan in the wrong place at the wrong time. But in the weeks that followed, the LAPD's case against Ramirez -- a longshot from the beginning -- slowly disintegrated.

Ramirez was suspected of the attack because his parole officer noticed he covered his neck with a bunch of new tattoos during the massive LAPD search for Stow's assailants, and because he bears a striking resemblance to one of two composite portraits that an artist based on witness descriptions. One witness then fingered Ramirez in a lineup. No other evidence has been presented publicly by detectives.

Meanwhile, Ramirez' daughter has come forward as an alibi -- she says she was with her father at the time of the attack. And his mom attests he could care less about baseball or the Dodgers.

As the Informer's Dennis Romero previously reported, Stow has a history of drug use and violence, albeit 20 years back. His family has admitted he "was not perfect" -- but that doesn't change the fact that the Opening Day attack was, by all witness accounts, unprovoked. Stow's attackers allegedly pounced from behind.

We've contacted detectives to get their take on the new developments; check back for updates.

You friggin' idiot! You call that "getting into a fight"? Bryan was clearly sitting down, being approached by a random dodger fan, and his body language is all too clear that he wanted no trouble. He hadn't traveled that far to waste his time on those losers confronting him. Someone on the ESPN site is saying that Bryan never really got hurt, but simply fell down drunk and "injured himself". I can't log onto that site but whoever you are "Nardman 3000" or wtf, wanna be soldier........rot in hell for even implying that he did this do himself. Be prepared for the reactions to your heartless rants......this is not funny.

Listen Ive been to plenty of games wearing the opposite of home team, my team. And I know best when your not in your hometown you stay quite and just cheer for when your team does good. There are ways you can be coo and avoid a fight. You think random dodger fans just walk up to people who are sitting down in there seats like that and call them out for nothing. Nope, he provoked this by probably saying some smart ass remark. If you cant back it up, then STFU.

Ok enough already. 4 months later, this man is still in an induced come fighting for his life. Were you telling me to shut the f*ck up or the fan, Bryan? If it was to him, then you probably got your wish. He won't be talking to any dodger fans (or anyone else) probably for some time. My point was that the title of this article said he was "in a fight" with a dodger fan. There was no fight. The attack occured after the game, in the parking lot (as you know) by someone other than this fool in the video. Obviously their problems did not escalate to a "fight". Look at the videos of him being taken to the ER, look at the videos of him being transported by his peers to a hospital closer to home. Maybe that will help make it a more human story to you. It's a friggin' game for God sake. He almost lost his life, and for sure has lost his career, which had been dedicated to saving the lives of whomever was on the other end of each and every 9-1-1 call. You weren't there, I wasn't there. Seriously; enough with the whole blaming the victim already. Even if there was trash talk, let's hope the attacker's punishment matches that of Bryan's, his children, family, friends and co-workers in a huge "family" of medics that spans this entire Country. Bryan's is physical, but the horror and emotional toll of this incident will not be forgotten.

I am a lifelong Giants fan who lives in LA. I have been to dozens of SF/LA games over the years here in LA. In years past, I have experienced thugs and knuckleheads looking to fight, but I have also experienced many Dodgers fans who will call them out for their actions/report to security. I was at the same game as Stow, and the fact is the Dodgers organization not only failed to protect Giants fans, they managed to fail to protect their own fans. In my section a bottle that was meant to hit me hit a young child. When the child (a Dodgers fan) started to cry, the attackers threw homophobic slurs at both the child and his father. When security was called in, the young gal who could not have weighed more than 100 pounds said "What do you expect me to do about it against those guys? I'l go find some cops" and never returned. The fact is, The McCourt clan skimped on security and now a father lays in a coma as a result. I hope that whomever buys the team cleans the trash out of Chavez Ravine and restores it to the proud franchise it once was.
