Penis Clipping as Part of Circumcision Gone Bad Yields $4 Million-Plus Settlement For Boy in L.A.

Imagine making your first million before the age of 10. And you wouldn't even have to give your left one for it.

Well, almost.

A boy who's now 8 might have paid the ultimate price when a doctor took off most of the top of his penis during circumcision as a baby. Today a judge in L.A. said the victim was entitled to a $4.6 million settlement.

The doc wasn't believed to be the bad guy here. Rather ...

... an allegedly faulty clamp led to the boy's unnecessary trim job, according to his mother's suit against the device's maker, Miltex Inc and its parent Integra Life Sciences Holding Corp.

The boy lived in L.A. at the time of the circumcision, although he now lives in Austin.

The judge's approval means he will see more than $3 million after attorneys get their pay.

The suit claims that the Miltex Mogen clamp was based on a "defective design" that allowed the doc to remove 85 percent of the boy's tip.

Besides having to see a urologist yearly, the boy also needs psychiatric treatment "to deal with the trauma of this incident," the suit claimed.

What an outdated practice. If you want to get cut as an informed adult, knock yourself out. Or if it has to be done to a child for medical reasons. But not for cosmetic or traditional ones.

And what do you mean "Penis Clipping as part of Circumcision"? Circumcision IS penis-clipping. Or rather, with a Mogen claimp, slicing. (with an Accu-circ, chopping; with a Plastibell, crushing and allowing to die.)

Cutting off 85% of the glans penis would cause less damage to sexual functioning than circumcision alone. But of course this poor little mite got both.

Circumcision is genital mutilation performed on a non-consenting, non-adult. Even without obvious "complications," genital cutting causes damage and most men would never choose this IF THEY WERE GIVEN A CHOICE. I also agree that the author's almost joke-like attitude about how this poor kid "made millions" is inappropriate and callous. This guy will never get to enjoy sex the way nature intended.

This writer's flippant attitude seems particularly callous considering the severe damage and trauma this child suffered to his penis. The author should be asked would he give up 85% of his glans penis (without consent) for such a payment?

Like any other surgery, this one has a complication rate - and the complications can be much more damaging than the operation itself. More people need to come forward with problems circumcision has caused them or their children. Perhaps now that lawyers see that there's money to be had, we'll see more cases.

But really, what's with the picture of Michael Jackson? What happened to this kid isn't a joke; it's fucking horrible.
