It started last season, quietly, and has slowly but steadily gained momentum: the fan protest to the Frank McCourt ownership.

Last season a number of fans stopped attending games to avoid contributing to the McCourts. This protest has continued to grow and attendance plummets to new lows.

This Saturday fans gathered outside Dodger Stadium before the nationally televised game against the San Diego Padres. The first fan-organized event of its kind, it brought a number of protestors with an array of anti-McCourt signs and shirts.

The crowd called out to people entering the stadium, pleading with them to stay away, that it wasn't too late to do the right thing.

ESPN blog Dodger Thoughts posted a photo shortly after the game started of a shamefully empty stadium.

The event organizer Roger runs the site MarkCubanSaveTheDodgers.com. He said his goal in organizing this was to get the point across to McCourt that though he has stated he wants what is best for the team, he isn't doing that. What is best for the team is for him to get out.

The men who bought us the Frankrupt shirts, Danny Bazil and Jon Moore attended holding shirts as cars drove by.

Mary Jones and Bill Snoberger used to be season-ticket holders as well but have opted to not attend games this season. Mary, like many of the protesters, stated she wanted Mark Cuban to save the team.

Benjamin Hutchinson of teamsinturmoil.com came with his son Damien in matching anti-McCourt shirts. Hutchinson has been regularly attending games since 1983 and this is the first year he hasn't gone.

SF fan, Curt Silver was showered in praise from the protesters, thanked profusely for being a part of the event.
