Updated at the bottom: Promoter Insomniac Events says Regal Movie Theaters also canceled, but notes that the show will go on at other venues. See our Electric Daisy Carnival Experience slideshows on the street action and party action. First posted at 4:31 p.m.

AMC Movie Theaters has dropped its one-night Aug. 4 screening of Electric Daisy Carnival Experience following a flash mob and near-riot outside its premier in Hollywood this week.

That, at least, is according to dance music artist Morgan Page, who tweeted today that that the chain "is sending refunds" to those who bought tickets in advance.

We have a call into AMC to confirm the news.

At least one other DJ tweeted that he received email confirmation that an Aug. 4 screening he bought tickets for was also canceled.

A mob of ravers -- cops say there were about 800 -- descended on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue Wednesday after 6 p.m. when superstar DJ Kaskade tweeted that he would DJ a free "block party" there.

While he features prominently in the documentary about the controversial Electric Daisy Carnival Rave, the party's promoter claims Kaskade's appearance had nothing to do with the nearby screening that followed the record-spinner's stunt. (Some of our sources indicated his presence, at least, had been planned by the screening venue).

People blocked traffic and police moved in. Some threw bottles and rocks and at least one police car was damaged in a confrontation between ravers and cops. Then a standoff ensued as a smaller group of DJ fans congregated on Hollywood Boulevard. They ultimately dispersed after patient cops pulled out three trouble makers and arrested them.

Update: AMC gave this statement to the Weekly Friday afternoon:

The safety and security of our guests and associates at AMC is a top priority. Due to the incident in Los Angeles, we have decided to not show the Electric Daisy Carnival Event scheduled for August 4. Any guest who has purchased a ticket through Fandango.com or Movietickets.com will automatically receive a full refund without having to contact the theatre. Guests who've purchased tickets at the box office can receive a full refund by visiting the box office or calling the theatre directly.

Update No. 2: EDC promoter Insomniac Events this afternoon said that Regal Movie Theaters also backed out but says there will be plenty of other venues for screenings and that you can find out where they are at its website.

Although we are very disappointed that Regal and AMC theaters have abruptly decided not to show the "Electric Daisy Carnival Experience," we are excited that people will still have the opportunity to experience a film about one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world and the love and joy this music brings to our lives.

The promoter states its looking to find replacement venues for the theaters that canceled their screenings: "They were dancing in their seats at the premiere, and we want to give you the opportunity to do that too!"

More:

It is extremely disheartening that some theaters wrongly associated an unaffiliated "block party," and its disorderly crowd, with the private screening of the film. The individuals who caused problems outside of our movie premiere were not the same audience, which wants to buy tickets to the film, just as the same people that cause disturbances after a sporting event do not represent all fans of that team.

I'm upset about this whole raver label that only in LA is a bad thing. It's like saying because you listen to country you're trailer trash or a redneck. I can't go to a tiesto concert without it being called a rave & if you're going you're a looser. Now you can't see a damn movie. All this started because some underage girl snuck into a party & killed herself? I refuse to believe that it was slipped into her drink, & her parents are to naive to see what really happened. It's not my fault I misspell either, I blame the keyboard. It's my cars fault that I ran a red light. & it's half the city's fault that my daughter snuk into a party I wouldn't let get go to. Oh, & we force fed her drugs while she was there.

Damn. Since I am underage and haven't had the chance to have an experience of EDC, this is a bummer. There is no venue in Las Vegas that is showing this movie. So thank you stupid Kids and kaskade for ruining this experience for and many others here who were looking forward to this movie....

Thanks Kaskade.  I was really looking forward to watching this movie since I can't attend the live event.  So thanks a lot.

The party was not affiliated with the movie, it was a "tweet gone bad" by a DJ. So with this rational they should cancel hockey events since some fans get rowdy too. What a poor business move to the thousands of fans (98% peaceful) who were looking forward to this film. Both AMC and Regal Entertainment have lost many costumers for good over this.

And lets not forget Cinemark/Century.  Bastards.

by their logic, baseball as a sport should be cancelled because of the Dodgers opening day ending in a Giants fan being beaten.
