Gay History Now Required, by Law, to Be Taught in California Social-Studies Textbooks

In those textbooks will they include an accurate overview of the gay lifestyle to put that history in perspective -- that male homosexuals preferred form of sexual gratification is anal sex poking their sexual appendage into the anal passage of their partners? And if so will political correctness prevent describing such behavior as disgusting? And will the history passages straightforwardly report the epidemic spread of HIV/AIDS worldwide was due to those same-sex anal penetrations?

Are you guys really that ignorant or were you born with that gene? Do you actually think that a second grade teacher will be teaching your child about homosexual sex? Read the article again before you start making stupid comments that don't make sense. Move out of California move out of the country which is what some of you guys suggested you were going to do, one less idiot ignorant racist in this state. If you have children and your child is gay or someday by his own choice decide to finally after keeping it inside for so long come out and tell it to the world that he/she is gay ,what are you going to do keep him locked up in a cage? Will you be ashamed of your own child? Maybe, as ignorant as you guys are sounding. Let our children feel safe and free of bigotry against gay people stop the bulling stop the hate crimes , this will teach our children how to be good members of society and how not to be ignorant toward a special group of people. With that being said take the blindfolds off people! We are in a new era where we are still fighting to be who we are without being pushed to back to the years of slavery and separation. We all have rights..

This is the most asinine thing I’ve read in a while. We haven’t even gotten all true history facts of Americans written and taught in history classes and now you want to add gay history. Unless it’s speaking specifically about gay rights then it really will not have any barring. And furthermore HISTORY generally doesn’t include such current events. So with that said these books will also need to include most current events alongside that gay historyJ. It’s good to know that this is what we are really fighting for… damn everything else--- this is a true victory!

I think its sad that gays are focusing on children... Homosexuals are quick to demand freedom of speech and thought for themselves, but equally quick to criticize those with a different view and if possible, to silence them by applying labels like “homophobic.” They are not content to keep it in the bedroom, but instead make use of every public avenue available to them to flaunt their lifestyle choice through parades, award shows, TV channels, blogs, spokespersons, lawyers, lobbyists, and even the schools. They would have religions love the sin as well as the sinner. Their idea of tolerance has come to mean something entirely different than it once did. Instead of love, it has come to mean condone – acceptance of wrongful behavior as the price of friendship. Their definition of tolerance insists that unless one accepts homosexuality one does not accept the homosexual and is a bigot.

Shame for spreading filth among the children. A better idea is to show the history of people who did great things and include their sexual orientation, instead of lumping all homosexuals together..

When I was a kid, there were no Black people in the textbooks, slavery apparently had nothing to do with the Civil War, and the last Hispanic person died after not finding the Fountain of Youth...

Some things have occurred and currently are occurring that should not be glorified thrown into the faces of the people as acceptable when it is not. Such is the case with  this political action brought about by a Gay politician in California.  That which is crooked cannot be made straight, by using what good  accomplished by some  were of the Gay life style to promote acceptance of homosexuality.If their actions were right they would not need to blow a trumpet placing before the students contributions of specific individuals who were Gay saying a Gay person did this so therefore being Gay is good. Their contribution to society should be considered not their sexual preferences."Today marks a monumental victory for the LGBT equality movement as the struggle of the diverse LGBT community in California will no longer be erased from history. Thanks to the FAIR Education Act, California students, particularly LGBT youth, will find new hope and inspiration and experience a more welcoming learning environment."( This is absurd for  placing the unnatural behavior of the  men and women of California to the forefront in the textbooks  and not what they have contributed to society in no way contributes to the overall well being of society…Anyone or any group whose exploits are considered worthy of being taught in schools the question should first be asked “ what have they done in their lives that deserves consideration “ ?  If they have contributed anything to the betterment of relations between human beings on this earth this should be publicized but, what they do in regard to their sexual desires is a private matter not to be infused upon the lives of gullible youths to influence them to turn to such a wayward dangerous lifestyle.)"Women's History," "Black History," etc. Of course, white men's history is just "History." Not ideal, but true.  (Here it is not that White men’s history is just history, it was the only history which was taught in the schools….Black History was non- existent other than in the minds of those who had lived it. What happens when those who were alive when it happened die?   Not too long ago  many of those were alive who were born during the slavery era who could voice their experiences during and after slavery in this country, and right now there are those who lived through the Civil Rights movement being thrown in jail, beaten, hosed down with fire hoses, all of which was done to curtail the efforts  of  African Americans in  protesting white America’s discriminatory practices toward them. Refusal to serve them at lunch counters ( their having to pick their food up at the back door) Water fountains for colored and different water fountains for white, on and on. Now this is history which should not be allowed to obscure, it should not be hidden but accepted.Those who are drawn to others of the same sex seek to glorify their lifestyle with this Gay History.This action of Gay America is unbalanced in equating  the plight of African Americans in this country to that which is experienced by Gay Americans.     By the enactment of Gay History they are in fact making a mockery of Black History, they are saying if they can do it anybody can.  A few months back some politicians made mention of Confederate History to be done in commemoration of  Confederate soldiers who had fought, killed and died to over throw the government of this country all because they sought to own African Americans as slavesAfrican Americans have accomplished much in this country despite the fact that they were brought into this country as slaves, considered not as people but property which was filed with the taxes of white slave owners, many being worked to death. The history of that which was experienced by  African Americans during and after slavery and their accomplishments deserves to be brought to the attention of the American students, the public in general, for that which is forgotten you are condemned to repeat.)[Lopez] said the schools should be focusing on doing better on important skills such as reading, writing and math. But why? That's it I'm moving out of this country

A unnatural sex lifestyle does not make you a minority. There is no gay gene. So Homosexuals are not a category of people or ethnicity. It is a choice. Stop comparing homosexuals to Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, who truly are genetically proven to be a ethnicity. There are already gay people in history books that we acknowledge because of there contributions to society not there sexual lifestyle. I.E The Greeks and Romans, and to make a class based on somebody's  unnatural sexual lifestyle and force children learn about it is wrong all the way.

C'mon, this isn't about teaching about sex.  This is about breaking down the all-encompassing assumption that everyone notable is and has been straight.  That completely untrue assumption is terrifying to a young gay person, who is already dealing with a heck of a lot without having to feel unnecessarily doomed, cursed and isolated.  That ignorant assumption also contributes to anti-gay atmosphere in the schools, which is often vicious.  Repeat:  this is not about teaching how to have gay sex. 

By using your computer to read this article you are indebted to a homosexual man; his name was Alan Turing, look him up.  Modern day computers would not be possible without him.  He was persecuted (actually convicted as a criminal by the British government) for his homosexuality, which likely contributed to his suicide in 1954. 

Makes me sick.  As if our schools aren't missing the mark already with their teachings, they are going to add just another waste of time to the schedule.  I guess as long as the gays and lesbians are happy.... <  That was a joke obviously. 

So it is OK to teach sexuality in classrooms but it is not OK to say the Pledge of Allegiance with "so help me God" at the end?  Epic failure CRAPafornia, no wonder you are broke!

Lookat our country and the shape we are in and ask yourself what can I do?  God tells us in his word that if my people willturn from their sinful ways and repent, I will heal there land! This is exactly why I was against gay marriage - because it doesn't stop there.  I personally could care less if someone wants to fuck or marry a cactus - I just don't want to know about it.  I don't go around telling people about the different women I fuck or that I prefer women.  Why do gays feel it's their business to make sure everyone knows about their sexuality?I care that Patton was a war hero - I care that Abraham Lincoln was a great president - I don't care who they were fucking or that fact they were or were not a gay (or whatever).  It has no relevance one way or another and to a child is just confusing.Seriously what's next?  Fag lanes on the 405?  For the pure minority this serves it is ridiculous.And if it is biological to be queer then on the same scientific theory it must be biological that that woman are not funny.  And given that scenario I can buy into the theory that people are born a certain way or not - but I don't feel we have to "educate" children about sexuality beyond trying to avoid unwanted pregnancies - oh and AIDS - the last one being simple - just don't have gay sex or be a drug addict...Obviously some of this is said in jest - but my points are accurate.

It makes me laugh that people actually believe that by teaching gay, the kids will turn gay. Whats wrong with being gay anyways? Havent people broken down so many "in the Bible" statements, interracial marriages, 2 incomes families, divorce, I mean really, get over it. Hey radical right wingers, say it with me, its ok to be gay.  

Good thing I move from California years ago (and I was born & raise there), I would not want to live in a place that glorifies in its BS and ignorance.

Although I think it is AMAZING that this bill passed and it makes me very happy, I'm terrified at what the fallout will be from the self-righteous right. Accusations of "recruiting" and "indoctrinating" youth will seem to be justified, and panic will ensue. I'm also afraid to read all the homophobic rants which will be posted in this comments section. It's not going to be pretty - but, then, the fight for equality and civil liberties never has been. 

i don't want to learn about black history either, can we vote to take that out?? i only want to learn how the white forefathers came over and gloriously created civilization and showed the red man the errors in their savage ways. Get over it. no one wanted interracial unions 50 years ago either. 20 years from now no one will care and we'll have a more open minded society.
