Heat.
A brass-balls takeover robbery of an ATM-cash delivery company netted as much as $1 million for bad guys in South El Monte last night, authorities said. Sheriff's officials said the crew entered through the roof

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Weekly the company is Commonwealth International, which, according to its website, is headed by a current Redondo Beach police officer and a former L.A. County Assistant Sheriff. (Did we mention balls?).

The bad guys, as many as three in all ...

... tied up three employees, locked them in a vault, and grabbed the cash about 8:43 p.m., sheriff's officials said. At least one of the three was said to have been armed.

The company, which offers "ATM services," vaults for rent and armored transport, is in the 12300 block of Barringer Street.

None of the three victims were injured, and Whitmore said he does not believe any were law enforcement officers. He wouldn't confirm the $1 million figure but said "a significant amount of money" was taken.

Whitmore said the company was performing an audit today to determine just how much cash went out the door last night. A rep at Commonwealth said "there will be no statement at this time."

Story rights are already being handled by William Morris (we kid. We think).
