Venetian Casino in Las Vegas Sues Tea Party Group for Skipping Out on $600K Bill

Fiscal responsibility.

It is the mantra of the Tea Party. One of its "core values."

So it is of particular interest that the Venetian Casino Resort in Las Vegas has just sued a Tea Party group for allegedly ducking out on a more than $600,000 tab.

According to the lawsuit, the Tea Party Nation Corporation of Franklin, Tennessee booked more than 1,000 hotel rooms, conference suites and other services for a five-day convention in July last year. Two weeks before the event, however, the Tea Party group canceled, leaving a balance of $554,148 due to the Venetian.

"Despite numerous requests for payment," the Venetian's lawyers claim, the Tea Party Nation "has refused, and continues to refuse, to make payment."

Apparently there was a clause in the hotel contract calling for 18 percent a year interest - which means the Venetian is demanding that the Tea Party Nation fork over nearly $88,000 in addition to the hotel bill, for a grand total of $642,144.

Tea Party Nation head Judson Phillips told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he hasn't yet seen the lawsuit, and the Vegas casino company declined to comment.

According to Tucker Carlson's The Daily Caller, Phillips blamed a shitty economy as the reason why loyal devotees did not plunk down $399 a head to attend the weekend convention. Conservative commentator Laura Ingraham and Lou Dobbs of CNN fame were supposed to speak at the event.

Hey, what could be more fiscally conservative than not paying your bills?

You have made me remember a comedian from years ago.  Can't remember his name so I can't give him credit.  He said not paying your bills is a good way to save money.  Someone asked him if it worried him, not paying the bills.  He responded that his creditors  worried so much about his not paying that he figured they had that angle covered.

I think even the most pro business court in the country is going to side with the casino on this suit.

Yeah, when Ronald Reagan started our borrowing and spend spree, I knew the nation was in for great difficulty.  Had a bit of hope (no pun intended!) when Clinton corrected some of the tax inequities, and lo, we had some fiscal stability.  Then W cut taxes and started a couple of wars, and my worst fears took form.  DO NOT FORGET: the economy melted down during W's watch, and he literally danced on the White House steps.Ham-hock headed fools is a gentle term to describe the traitors who want to cut programs for the least able to cope in order allow the wealthy to escape their obligations to this nation that has served them so well.

when these ham-hock  headed  fools finally implode, it's NOT going to  be  pretty.... but it sure will be entertaining.

Wonder if it will be as entertaining when the country implodes. Like the Titanic, this ship may be bigger and harder to sink, but if you keep borrowing and spending, it is inevitable.

Just out of curiosity, what specifically do you believe makes them "ham-hock headed fools" as opposed to "ordinary" fools, such as Democratic or Republican (two faces of the same coin) cheerleaders?

Who says Republicans and Democrats aren't the "ham hock" type of fool?  No one...your just trolling.  Go away troll!  Get back under your bridge!

When she was a youngster, my little sister had tea parties, which were more logical and coherent than their political freakshow counterparts.
