This is a sticky situation. I'm inclined to lean towards the King Solomon solution.

Transgender or not this person was born male. Now, if the 100% surgery was done, 100% hormone replacements were done, to the point that a doctor could not tell that one was born male without a blood test, that's one thing...and I would say that TSA was in the wrong. But if we're talking about a person who looks and acts female but is truly male? To me, it's a slippery slope, and one that brings to light the issues around "Don't Ask Don't Tell". It goes beyond TSA.

There was a high school gym teacher example given. What about prison guards? I mean where does it end?

I feel for this woman. I used to hate going to the airport, until I decided to just tell the truth to the TSA. I'm a Muslim woman trapped in a Jewish man's body. I'm a guy, personally, but I have a lot of transwomen and transmen friends, and it's really refreshing to see a news article treat a transgender subject as a woman, not as a freak or as a man in a dress. I never had heard of a she male in the small town in which i grew up. The story of how we met would be too long but we became friends. I just saw a warm compassionate individual. it doesn't matter me if Jamie was born different. Jamie had never had surgery so jamie never tried to be either sex. I thought when i saw her i asked my self why does that beauty not have a boyfriend. I did find out eventually how hard her life had been made by the locals. After for Vietnam my buddy from back home wrote and told me Jamie had killed herself and had left a letter. It wasn't her choice to be born with a male organ and a female body. I believe God will see Jamie differently than those in my small community saw Jamie. The last time i saw Jamie, Jamie asked me ,why can't i been seen as a human being? Is that too much to ask?

Why is that the religious conservatives are so perverse? Gender and sexuality are determined by biology, as well as social conditioning. Even though there has been some progress in the medical community, ignorance still persists. Barry, As a Muslim woman trapped in a Jewish man's body, I can tell you it's hell! A Muslim woman won't touch me because I am physically male. I can't allow a male (Muslim or otherwise) to touch me, because I am actually female. My Jewish family can't accept that I'm a Muslim (on the inside). And we won't go into what the Muslims say about the whole thing.At the airport, they just put me alone in a room so I can do a self patdown.
