The story of a 15-year-old boy killed at a Southern California high school campus because of his high heels, lipstick and effeminate sexuality was playing out in court in L.A. this week.

Brandon McInerney was 14 when he shot Larry King a day after the 15-year-old walked around in high heels and makeup in 2008 at E.O. Green School in Oxnard. That much even McInerney's defense appears to be admitting.

What's in question here is whether King's actions ignited a troubled kid, prompting him to commit a murder that otherwise might have been out of character:

That, at least, is the contention of the defense, according to MSNBC -- that "sexual advances" by King sent a kid with issues over the edge.

McInerney's sister said her brother was abused by their drug-using father. A teacher testified that King's actions might have constituted "sexual harassment:" "I saw a lot of anger and rage" in McInerney, teacher Arthur Saenz said.

So is sexual teasing an excuse to kill?

Maybe a little to muchhighheals  just a little makeup  did the parent's think it was ok for him/her to dress that way to go to school? Very sad. I just do not know what to say.

If it had been a young lady that he didnt particularly "fancy" making advances, would it be ok to kill her because he would consider it "sexual harrassment" ?  Even saying it could be used as even the most base of excuse for murder is lunacy. As far as a kid that kills spending his life away from society, yes he should.

no way !! you should be able to dress and act how you want without the fear of being killed !! that is not right, he killed another person and should go to jail.

You are missing the point. Nobody is suggesting that this is was an excuse to kill. The point of the trial is to determine if this was a hate crime and if this kid who had just turned 14 at the time should spend the rest of his life in prison. Recent results from the trial clearly show that this was not a hate crime and this kid should have been tried as a juvenile. Maybe our justice system does work after all!
