Desborough, left, accepts an award for exceptional (and possibly illegal) Hollywood scooping, circa 2009.
News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks really did infiltrate her Satanic hacking malpractices into every corner of this Earth. In Hollywood, turns out, where ace "showbiz" reporter James Desborough, the World's stateside editor, was staked out until the paper's colossal implosion amid the phone-hacking scandal, the victim pool may have picked up some star power.

Desborough was arrested and questioned today by British police. (Surely thankful to be off the looting task force and back on this sophomoric hacking crap.) Here are his possible celebrity victims, based on various news reports and a quick review of his clips:

(But first, the compliment given to him by British Press Awards judges in 2009, hilarious in light of recent events: They said he had "produced a series of uncompromising scoops which mean no celebrity with secrets can sleep easy." Heh. Tonight will be a peaceful one in Hollywood.)

Fern Britton, British TV hostess:

(Via Digital Spy.) TV host Fern Britton has admitted that she had a gastric band fitted two years ago.

The 50-year-old, who fronts ITV1's This Morning, was forced to release a statement about her secret after hearing that it was about to be exposed by the News of the World.

Peaches Geldof, British TV personality:

She tells pals she's had enough of hubby -- WILDCHILD Peaches Geldof's marriage is OVER after only 96 DAYS. -- The troubled teenager has told shocked rock musician husband Max Drummey, 24, she's DIVORCING him and will start talks with her lawyers this week.

Heather Mills, one of Paul McCartney's ex-wives, who "recently said that she believed she had, at some point, been a victim of phone hacking," according to the New York Times:

HEATHER Mills has sensationally backed down in her bitter divorce battle with Paul McCartney -- and is set to accept a £29 million cash and property settlement. ...

A close friend of Heather insisted that a settlement deal wouldn't buy her silence about claims Paul had been violent towards her.

Heather -- dubbed Mucca because of her porn and vice past -- has repeatedly told her pal: "I will NOT sign a gagging clause because I want people to know the truth."

Desborough also dropped a bunch of exclusives on Michael Jackson after his controversial OD, and exclusively unveiled one of Tiger Woods' (alleged) mistresses -- a "busty" waitress who had "desperate" sex with the golfer in his own home, as well as a church parking lot, while Woods' wife was pregnant. Not that it was all that shocking, given the slew of other exclusives coming out at the time on all his other hoes.
