Her sons pulled the stabber off her and wrestled him to the ground, but Narda Huerta was already seeping blood from her neck. It was just past midnight on March 6 in a residence on the 2800 block of Fairmont Street in Boyle Heights when the 48-year-old Latina women was stabbed.

Huerta's boyfriend was visiting her home, when the two got into an argument that ended with the suspect allegedly stabbing her in the neck.

According to LAPD officials, Huerta's two sons pinned the suspect to the ground. When police arrived, a larger group of men were holding down the man.

ABC-LA reported that the two sons, one of whom suffered a superficial knife wound to the forward when he was trying to protect his mother, were trying to give their mother medical aid when paramedics arrived.

The victim was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The son who was injured was also taken to the hospital and treated.

City News Service reported that at the time of the killing authorities detained the suspect and he was booked on suspicion of murder. Officers also recovered a knife from the scene of the crime.

Police had not released the name of the suspect at the time of the incident.

Note: Due to technical difficulties, the LA Weekly's archive of all homicides within Los Angeles city limits was discontinued near the end of last year. We will be rolling out the 2011 homicides, one by one, until our "Murder was the Case" archive is up to date. Thanks for your patience.
