Basil Max Price III Killed in Ferrari Crash on PCH: Car Split in Half

Categories: Crash

A Ferrari 360.
The second Ferrari to split in half in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in the last five years took the life of a man ID'd by cops as 23-year-old Basil Max Price III of Glendora.

He was the passenger in the 1999 car that was apparently speeding and went out of control on PCH north of Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades early yesterday, according to an LAPD statement.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the car hit a power pole and split in two. The driver ...

... 24-year-old Vladimir Skvortsov of Upland, was taken to UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, police told City News Service.

The LAFD reported that the accident, in the 17300 of Pacific Coast Highway, happened at 1:27 a.m. Sunday.

Both men inside the exotic Italian car were said to have been ejected and thrown 30 feet to the beach below, where firefighters found one of them dead.

The LAPD reported the car was a 1999 "350M," but we're going to guess it was a 360 Modena, as the Maranello carmaker didn't appear to make a 350 model that year.

Cops said it wasn't clear if the driver had been drinking.

Ferraris and PCH have a turbulent history. In 2006 a video game magnate named Bo Stefan M. Eriksson allegedly crashed a Ferrari Enzo on PCH in Malibu (he had said he wasn't driving), also splitting the car in half. He lived.

In 2009 a Modena driven by TapOut clothing founder Charles "Mask" Lewis collided with a Porsche and crashed in Newport Beach not far from Pacific Coast Highway. The car also split in two, and the legendary mixed martial arts figure was killed instantly.

This is a horrible, senseless tragedy that could've been avoided, period.  I have heard mixed stories that the car was not actually owned by the driver; that they took it out joy riding.  Either way, my heartfelt sympathies go out to both families.

Max--I can't tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your son.  Please don't pay attention to the asses that post vile hate comments.  Losing a child through whatever means is a tragedy no one should bare.  My prayers are with you.Diane A

yeah - and raising a child to have zero respect for his own life or the lives of others isn't vile? Please - what 23 y.o. should have a $200,000 sports car, and what kind of moron drives that fast?  The lives of everyone around them on the road were put in jeopardy that day, so instead of some snobby pseudo-sympathetic BS, I'll simply thank the lord above that the two DOUCHEBAGS got hurt/died instead of say, an innocent 3 y/o passenger of a car that had the misfortune of sharing the highway with them that day.

Maybe it wasn't the drivers car fuckface

You say thank the lord above like you are a believer of god. I dont think he condones belittling the loss of someones son, grandson, nephew, or friend. Max was an amazing person and a much better person than you will ever be. He made a bad choice and sometimes that happens. But people like you will NEVER be forgiven for the hurtful things you have said. Open a bible before you "thank the lord above" again or just get some common sense.

Whereas I can appreciate your candor and opinion, and agree that thankfully no innocent bystanders were harmed, do you really need to be such an insensitive jackass?  Yes, this was a stupid, terrible accident that could've been avoided, but seriously?  This isn't the first time kids have gone out speeding...and for all intents and purposes I've seen plenty of idiots driving faster on the 405!  I'm quite sure they didn't get in the car with the intention of dying, but hey, you've never done anything reckless before in your life - except post vile comments without knowing all the facts.  I'll thank the lord that you didn't get hurt or killed in doing so!

You moron....yes...all the lives, including the young passenger MAX that she was refferring too. HE was not the one drivng and was a victim of this horrible tragedy. Your envy of somone owning more than you is about as pathetic as you lack of heart!
