Hollywood actress Leisha Hailey, formerly of Showtimes "The L Word," launched a boycott of Southwest Airlines via Twitter this week after she says she was scolded for a girl-girl kiss while flying with her girlfriend from Baltimore to St. Louis Monday.

The airline says it wasn't about the gender of the kissers but the "excessive" showcase of PDA.

The actress told her story via Twitter:

-Flt. attendant said that it was a "family" airline and kissing was not ok.

-This is an outrage. I demand a public apology by @SouthwestAir and a refund. Hate is not a family value. I will never fly this airline.

-We were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue. @SouthwestAir endorses homophobic employees. No one made her accountable.

-Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as "family".

-I know plenty of wonderful same sex families I would like to intro duce them to. Boycott @SouthwestAir if you are gay. They don't like us.

Hailey says she got the whole confrontation on video (now this we want to see).

For its part, Southwest says it was simply reacting to passengers' complaints:

... We received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive. Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender. The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight.

Irony? Southwest markets itself as the home of "gay friendly travel:"

... We are the official airline of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the Gay-Straight Alliance Network (GSA), and the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).

(But if you're gay and horny, forget it).

The thing is, Southwest, what's excessive kissing? Were they tying up cherry stems with their tongues and then swapping the results? Even then, we say, let girls be girls.
