The guy who has appeared a few times in these pages, accused of running a rogue pot shop that some neighbors alleged marketed its wares to nearby high school kids, is headed for a year behind bars.

The District Attorney's office today announced that 42-year-old Jeffrey Keith Joseph also got 500 hours of community service and 5 years of probation for ... yes ... selling marijuana ... and money laundering as the culmination of a DEA probe of his Organica shop on the Westside last year.

D.A's spokeswoman Shiara Dávila-Morales said in a statement that Joseph ...

... engaged in illegal over-the-counter marijuana sales. The Drug Enforcement Administration initiated its investigation after Organica fliers were distributed at a local high school.

Investigators ultimately found the pot shops was doing $400,000 a month in business even though cannabis outfits are supposed to operate on a strict, nonprofit basis under California law. (Yeah, right).

In the summer of '09 authorities found 80 kilos of pot at Organica. You know -- medicine for the seriously ill.

The Washington Boulevard dispensary was said to straddle the border of Culver City and the city of L.A.

The judge in the case, Gail Feuer, threatened more time if Joseph doesn't fly straight from here on out: A four year sentence was suspended but can be reactivated.

He was also banned from the pot game, medical or otherwise. Dávila-Morales:

Judge Feuer also imposed conditions that prohibit Joseph from selling, serving, storing, keeping, manufacturing, cultivating or giving away marijuana. In addition, the judge ordered the destruction of all marijuana and marijuana products relevant to the case.

Will this send a chill throughout L.A.'s retail-like dispensary community? Not likely.

Hey would you look at that? The CEO gets paid almost $550,000. I'll betcha that's plus a fat benefits package.

I wonder if you can tell me how many dispensary executive administrators (owners) did not sell medicine to school children in the last year? You know -- complied with the law.
