ME,~~...... Yes I am defending my daughter and us as parents, .....You are right. ,,,,,,When this first happened, I read so many disgusting and sickening things, strangers have said. I just couldn't stop crying. I wanted to defend her and us. We ARE the parents that are there for all and any little thing that our children do. Kindergartden helper mom, always there for field-trips , PTA mom, watching school performances, homework ,back-to-school night, reading books, sitting on the bed just talking, and on..... Yes we did have software to help monitor our daughter, but we had let it lapse, that was stupid on our part.....ME.....do you have children? If you did you would understand, maybe a bit of the HELL we have gone through, this past year....Our youngest, where she thought she was so 'grown' , now she knows better......she is a kid . I will defend my child ,......because she is a good child........I will defend my friend's kids,.....because they are good kids. If I knew you,.....and you are a good parent.......I will defend your child....there is NOTHING wrong with defending someone, who is a good person,.........However those who post horrid, nasty comments.........understand there is a family and most likely will view this type of thing online.......As for myself, I am done.

You claim it was a stupid mistake that you didn't monitor your daughter, I and many others claim you seriously failed at parenting. And you sure didn't teach your daughter well enough about not talking to strangers online and about sex. Just admit you failed and try again!

LOL. Mom, you can keep running around and defending yourself but in the end you and the father are also to blame for this. I have installed dozens of monitoring softwares onto computers so parents can see EVERYTHING that their child is doing online. It shows IMing, websites, every key they type is logged so that you can read it. Heck, software these days even takes a picture of the screen every so many seconds so you can look at that too.

The fact of the matter is that you didn't take those precautions with your child. You thought you were smart enough to check the history and you didn't research how to keep your child safe online. You FAILED, the guy should be locked up. But you also need to take a look in the mirror and know that you failed also. You failed to protect your child from an online predator. A 5 minute search on keeping your child safe online would have shown you the tools, software, and knowledge that would have prevented this whole thing from happening.

I find it funny that you also are so insecure that you need to come on here and defend yourself and your actions. Your name calling and calling people child molesters is also sickening. They don't know you but you also don't know them. People of a lower IQ always go to name calling to defend themselves. You are responsible for your child true, I think you and your husband should both face some kind of punishment for not watching your kid. Simple as that.

Always watch what your kids are doing on the internet. Don't put the computer in a room where they can be alone with it. If they have social networking accounts, please for the love of God have their passwords, and if for some reason you can't, get a keylogger and install it on the machine so you can go back and see.

While some blame has to go to the parents for not keeping tabs on what she was doing online, remember that these sick individuals are really good at working on kids to try to get them to do what they want.

Seven years is way to short of a sentence for this but if I had it my way we could solve the problem for about $0.19

There is alot of untruths in this piece , I have never met or spoken to this -- Chris Vogel , so I'm trying to understand why he wrote this. Lopez was never 'courting' her, he was "brainwashing" her , these words came from the FBI agents. YES, we keep track of her going on line for her school web-site, on her FaceBook ,for contact for friends(I keep track of what was being said) and of almost every place she went to. For not ""watching"" ever minute/second , yes this happened. But dinner has to be made and I didn't have the desk top on the kichen counter every minute, its on the desk.

Yes , we monitor everything she does. However, she had a Facebook page that we were sure was blocked from anyone but a few friends that we knew. However it wasn't. The website Twinkle , I thought was for kids, yes I didn't check it, however it was the Instant Messaging that does not have a history, that I keep checking. The child molester keep telling our child how to change and delete things. And NO we aren't shitty parents. We learned never to trust a 13yr old, or teen. and there is a TOTAL BLOCK and we now speak to countless parents on what to look out for.........I can read from your post that you don't have any kids.

This all boils down to bad parenting--parents teach their kids to make the right decision, and that wasn't done in this case. The guy should be locked up for longer than seven years, yes, but teach your kids safety and self confidence to stay away from these situations for goodness sake.

I heard that there were internet 'news' web-sites that wrote about what happened on Mon., 9-12-11. But I'm shocked that there are people who know NOTHING of what happened, but write as if they were there, or just write GARBAGE , just because they can .
