Investigators blame Nernberg for Kramer's death.
When 18-year-old Griffen Kramer -- the son of NFL great Erik Kramer -- turned up dead after a party on Halloween weekend, officials at Thousand Oaks High School suspected alcohol poisoning was to blame.

But the L.A. County Sheriff's Department made a sweeping effort this morning to hold others accountable for the tragic accident.

KTLA reports that deputies, search warrants in hand, entered six different homes before making five arrests in connection with Kramer's death. The most severe charges were handed to 19-year-old David Nernberg:

Involuntary manslaughter.

Kramer was found lifeless on the morning of Sunday, October 30, at Nernberg's house in Agoura Hills.

Nernberg's player profile on MaxPreps.com lists him as former student at Agoura Hills High School, located one town over from Kramer's campus. He played on the school's varsity football team in 2010-11, manning both the defensive and offensive lines. (Kramer was a backup quarterback for Thousand Oaks, but reportedly attended Agoura Hills for the first two years of high school.)

The suspect's Facebook indicates he may have moved on attend college at UC San Diego. He's friends with Kramer online as well.

The four other arrestees -- two juveniles and two adults -- were charged with misdemeanor offenses.

According to KTLA, sheriff's and coroner's officials believe Kramer overdosed on some kind of drug that Saturday night -- possibly heroin. He spent part of his sophomore year in rehab for substance abuse.

Nernberg is believed to have panicked, failing to seek much-needed medical attention for his friend after finding him passed out. From the news report:

The night before Kramer was pronounced dead, detectives told KTLA that Nernberg was partying with Kramer at a park and at some point, Kramer became unconscious and was in need of medical attention.

Authorities say that's when Nernberg put Kramer into his car and started driving around, calling his friends and asked what he should do.

Eventually, Nernberg took Kramer to his house, dragged his body inside and left him there until the following morning where he was found dead.

Everyone has a right to say their own opinion, but you should be careful where you say it. All these things being said about the kids and their families are extremely rude, and if they ever read any of this themselves, I'd be ashamed of saying something mean. I'm sure the families have all realized what mistakes they made, and are now being judged by every single member of their community. The last thing they need is to read reviews talking about how horrible their kids and parenting skills are, especially coming from people who don't know the families at all, or really understand the situation.

"Dragged his body"?  Isn't that just a bit hyperbolic as nobody is suggesting he was dead when David put him in the bed, presumably thinking Kramer would just "sleep it off".  A "body" typically refers to a dead person and I have not heard anyone claim that Kramer was dead when he went to bed. The media is sensationalizing the crap out of this. Where were all Kramer's wonderful friends who are not condemning Nernberg when Kramer needed them? Did Nernberg hold Kramer down and administer the drug? Does Kramer who presumably made the decision to take the drugs have any responsibility at all? By the way, they said the "tox report was inconclusive" so how do you know he even took drugs? They originally reported alcohol poisoning. They are trying to lynch David Nernberg but I have some bad news for you. This is a tragedy and compounding it will neither make it better nor bring closure. David Nernberg IS NOT Dr. Conrad Murray.

When someone knows that another person has taken something that could be extremely dangerous to them and fails to act, that is being irresponsible.  There is no difference in what Conrad Murray and David Nernberg did.  I concede, Murray was a licensed physician, but Nernberg didn't have to have a medical degree to know that something wasn't right.

He knew his friend was in distress, but instead of calling for help, Nernberg puts his friend in the car, drives around, and them dumps the body out at the victim's house.  Does that sound like the responsible thing to do?  Is that what a friend or someone who "has your back" does?

For failing to provide assistance when Griffen Kramer needed it most, David Nernberg became complicit in Kramer's death.

sorry to tell u all but both are wrong. people who make these decisions both on kramers part and nernbergs part. they are the people we try to weed out in society they are the weak the ones that werent long for this world. the families did not pay enough attention to either child so this is wat you get. so kramer got is fate and nernberg will get his. i am a person who came from a family where alot of drugs were sold and i spent time in prison but i decided to change the way my kids would be raised. i am a lucky one. i am very sorry for both sides. but nothing will change. each side will gon on in life other than griffens.

Jerry - I am glad to hear that you have broken the cycle of substance abuse in raising your own children but I would reply to your observations that in the real world, sometimes bad things happen to good people. If you attend meetings of Alanon, a group dedicated to sharing the knowledge of how best to deal with a family member who is an abuser, you will find the best of parents who have often raised numerous kids who are well adjusted high achievers but have one child who "fell in with the wrong crowd" etc.

How many times have we heard one man say "I came from an abusive background and that's how I ended up on death row" and another man say "I came from an abusive background and swore I would not live like that and so I became the CEO of this corporations. There are no hard and fast rules about parenting and you do not get any guarantees when you raise kids. There are no sure things in the world of substance abuse or parenting.  When you are done "doing the best you can" it does not hurt to 'say a prayer" as well because either figuratively for those of us who are not religion or literally for those who are, every moment of every day we are in God's hands.

Lou, you have no right to judge an entire community on decisions that only a few specific teenagers made. All neighborhoods have families that are dealing with substance abuse and all neighborhoods have kids who don't know what to do when faced with an emergency.

Actually he judged "privileged white kids" who reside in the community, not the community itself. And he has every right to his opinion whether perceived as valid or not. It is actually you who have no right to censor his discourse, unless of course you are a Supreme Court Justice ruling on Free Speech. And he is absolutely correct about Jessie James Hollywood-- a real "stand-up" guy who orchestrated the murder of an innocent boy, and who garnered the complicity of his "privileged" friends to do so. May they all rot in the Pen as a lesson to the unwise about the serious nature of irresponsible choices.

This is such a crock of ****. David didn't do anything wrong. He thought the kid needed to "sleep it off" like anyone would have. These same jack asses who make a handsome living off the so called "war on drugs" are the same jack asses who are constantly blathering about "personal responsibility" but when a tragedy occurs, they think it is everyone's fault except the guy who CHOSE to take the booze and drugs. Don't you people/vultures have anything better to do with your time like maybe go watch some Lions eat Christians or something?

These are your typical privileged white kids who weren't raised with any values.  This is the same area that produced Jesse James Hollywood.  Hope Nernberg like prison.
