Marijuana Dispensaries in L.A. Targeted For Closure: Here's The List

This is how Amsterdam does it.

L.A. still has a near-record high number of marijuana dispensaries despite efforts by the City Council to control them. (And we do mean high).

But one-by-one the office of City Attorney Carmen Trutanich is knockin' 'em out. (Unfortunately, one of his assistant city attorneys thinks new ones crop up by the day).

Today the office announced it is targeting nine pot shops for permanent extinction:

The outlets are being sued in a nuisance abatement claim that alleges they're within 600 feet of schools -- a no-no under city zoning rules and state law.

Trutanich:

To protect their children, the residents of this City will not tolerate marijuana shops operating near schools in violation of California law. While state law allows qualified patients with safe access to medical marijuana under very limited conditions, the law does not allow marijuana shops within 600 feet of schools.

The City Attorney wants them closed and is even pressing for $2,500-per-day penalties if they stay open while being sued. (Ain't that a bitch?).
