Prosecutor Mario Trujillo Calls D.A.'s Policies "Archaic," Draws Rebuke From D.A. Steve Cooley

• You're a fool.  Kick the would be gang bangers out of school increases the ranks of White fence and MS-13 How about we run a school system that makes an honest life more appealing than being a jail thug? 

• How about Mario's having some respect for himself?  Anyone with the history you relate who  does not clear up everything as his First Step is a person without personal integrity.  If Mario won, he would be subjected to continual blackmail. I would support an openly Gay person for any office including President, but these lying SOB closet cases (Erika Garcetti to boot) are a plague on the Gay Community and on everyone else as well. Gay is Good -- lying closet cases are bad.

• Mario is a fool if he thinks that in this day and age he can be one thing and say another thing.  Look how quickly he gets caught. Who wants a DA with so little personal integrity.  We've had that with Philibosian, with Garcetti, with Cooley.   There are smart liars and dumb liars.  The smart liars win the elected office and Mario is a dumb ass.

• Mario has only himself to blame.  Mario better wake up and realize that unless he takes stock of himself, it is wildly unethical for him to run for public office. There is virtually no doubt that Mario's screwed himself years ago and there is no time for him to start anew and win this up-coming DA race, but he is living under an extreme delusion if he thinks he can survive the smear campaign he knows is coming.

• Thank you, Gene Maddaus, for another interesting article.  I have no doubt that the race for District Attorney will be quite contentious next year, full of many intricate twists and turns until the bitter end.  I do not pretend to know who will ultimately prevail, or even who would make the best D.A.  One thing, however, I do know: We will all be better off when Steve Cooley --- a chronic alcoholic unfit for public office --- is no longer the District Attorney of this County. 

• Congratulations, Mario, for having the courage of your convictions (pun intended). Unlike Steve Ipsen, who has tried to project himself as the reform candidate but has a single digit record of convictions and a worse record of having those convictions overturned for prosecutorial misconduct, Mario Trujillo is the real deal. He has the wind of change behind him and is gaining support throughout the Latino community. Being outspoken and being prepared to suffer the consequences of taking an opposing view is what voters respect. Being a cheap shill who hides behind lame union busting claims is what losers like Ipsen do, and lets see the financial reports at the end of the month to see which candidate has impressed voters the most. I hear Mario has raised the most money of all the candidates, and Ipsen and Grace need to get out of the race.

• Sorry I dont back candidates for LA's Top Cop who cant decide whether they want to be married to women or men when they are over 40 years old. First marry a woman, have some kids, leave her for men, live as openly gay, and then marry another woman. Have some respect for the institution of marriage and have some respect for women.

• Dont forget that most of the Assistant District Attorney's hate Trujillo because he has consistently been a union buster. And now he is out there trying to pass himself off as a progressive. The only issue he is progressive on is the ability to marry, both men and women.

• This is exactly what is wrong with POLITICIANS like Mario TRUJILLO: they think they can send an email and claim they are outsiders and people will just buy it.  Sorry Mario, we live in the information age and voters know you are a phony. You ARE the STATUS QUO, you ARE part of the same administration that lost LA County by voters' mass disapproval of you and your boss Steve Cooley's policies in the Attorney General race, you ARE inexperienced and have zero credibility.  How do you expect to lead the DA's office with only 15 years experience, most of which was under Cooley? Why do you think the management is in uproar over your statements: because you are part of the status quo, and weren't supposed to make those statements. Remember?  That was the agreement.

• The "reformers," Trujillo, Meyers and Ipsen are flat out wrong. LA County is about to experience an explosion in crime as the prison system flushes it's toxic waste on the streets of LA to help Jerry Brown balance the budget. It is a disaster of biblical proportions. Yes, the recidivism rate of 70% is unacceptable, but the solution is not to make it 90%. The reasons why we have hard core criminals goes way back to lousy parenting and lousy schools that tolerate bad behavior rather than give up their 'no child left behind' funding. The change that is needed is at the front end, where the monsters are created, not on the back end where Jerry just flushes the prison toilet into society. Mario was wrong to attack the way the DA's office has honored it's commitment to the law abiding community and given victims some protection from these predators. He has forgotten who he is supposed to protect and thinks that he will gain support from the scumbag families who created these monsters. Think again Mario, if you think these people will actually turn up and vote, you are living Disneyland. They are useless rotten scum with an excuse for everything and zero responsibility. Good luck.

• I love it...just like California State Attorney General Kamala Harris (of whom I said the same about,) Mario Trujillo has got the Intestinal as well as Testicular Fortitude to take on the Status Quo and move beyond the "insanity of doing the same thing again & again and expecting a different result." We, as Tax Payers, deserve someone with the courge to think outside the Judicial Box to try and fix a broken system. Finally a 'Forward Thinking Candidate' emerges...go Mario!!!

• Your welcome to your own opinion...not your own facts. Factually, Cooley is endorsing Jackie Lacey and not Mario Trujillo. Cooley gave Trujillo an earful for pointing out that his candidate Lacey (and Alan Jackson) are the Status Quo Candidates thus making their electability a little more difficult. It's about time we have a candidate that's looking beyond the Status Quo and is willing to take on and reform the system.

When District Attorney Cooley ran against Mr. Garcetti for DA he was able to express his first amendment right of free speech without having to resign. When Former DA Philibosian ran he was able to express his first amendment right of free speech without having to resign. Why the double standard?

• Just because people are dismissed doesn't mean they are innocent, but Mario better join the union because Cooley will certainly transfer him or go after him now.  Trujillo will become Cooley's new target.  If Trujillo wants to be judge if the DA election doesn't work out, then he should think again.  Cooley will certainly call his friends. It is about time someone other than Ipsen points out the complete idiocy in the DAs office.  Cooley is old and worn.  No one cares what he thinks anyway.  I hope he jumps back in the race and Trutanich, Trujillo and Ipsen all give Cooley the bird!

• Are you living on another planet.  The Conrad Murray case is a complete humiliation to the world.  The Bell 8 scandel just as bad, especially with Cooley protecting his friend Jim Adams who was in on the deal and his association donated to Cooley's campaign for AG.  Seriously, are you mentally retarded?  Just asking..

• Mario Trujillo is a joke. He shows up to events like he is a real contender to be DA, surrounding himself with nothing but gay Latinos. Not exactly my vision of a DA.

• Calling Steve Cooley's policies "archaic and inefficient" is a bit of a stretch Mario. I like you but you are wrong here. Just tell LA that Steve was "archaic and inefficient" to prosecute Dr. Conrad Murray,  Phil Spector or the City of Bell 8 and see where that gets you. The 'Change' thing worked 4 years ago when Obama tried it, but most Americans, including a serious number of democrats, aren't buying 'change' anymore. You need to be honest with Americans, including the families of criminals who want to blame everyone but themselves for raising monster gangbangers. We are too soft on crime too early, and too hard on it, too late. I am sick of excuses and platitudes, I want the schools to kick these bums out before they poison the rest of the students, and I want them locked up in the youth authority so they don't get back into circulation. That's the kind of change we believe in. I'll vote for the candidate who wants to change things for decent law abiding citizens, not someone who wants to dole out more government cheese.

• This is incorrect Mario Trujillo was dismissed from the lawsuit because he had nothing to do with the accusations made in the lawsuit. Mario is a strong supporter of Unions , I've heard that his mother was a union activist and taught him the value of Unions.

• Mario Trujillo a "reform candidate"?! HARDLY! He is a codefendant with Steve Cooley and Jackie Lacey in the anti-labor and anti-union lawsuit which was only partially settled against them costing taxpayers over $600,000 not to mention the legal fees that taxpayers have to pay for the private attorneys hired from Jones Day law firm which will probably double that amount.  And Mario is in Cooley's management team - why else would Cooley pull him aside and give him an earful and have his spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons call it "disappointing"?! Because Cooley and Mario Trujillo are part of the same team which has failed the citizens of LA County for over a decade.
