'Geminids' Meteor-Shower-Chasing Driver Crashes Mustang 100 Feet Down Angeles Mountain Road
Legendary radio DJ Casey Kasem's trademark sign-off is, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars." Maybe, for safety's sake, he should change it to, "Keep your car on the road and keep reaching for the stars."

A driver in the mountains above Glendora was reportedly hoping to find a good place to view a meteor shower in the skies above when the car he was in plunged 100 feet off of the road, authorities told the Weekly.

... on Glendora Mountain Road at mile marker 10.48 shortly before 11:38 last night, which is when the L.A. County Fire Department received the call, officials said.
An urban search and rescue team, a helicopter and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene but apparently they weren't needed, according to the department: The driver was found at the top of the road.
His white Ford Mustang was spray painted with an "X" for retrieval this morning, officials said.
According to City News Service, the unidentified driver was apparently searching for a good vantage point to view the "Geminids," what NASA describes as "the final major meteor shower of the year."

Best viewing was slated for last night and tonight, according to NASA. And yeah, a clear view from the mountains would probably work just fine. So long as you stay on the road, pull over to a safe place, and get out of your car before looking up. Yeah?
