Occupy L.A. Port Protest Causes "Minimal" Disruption

​Several hundred Occupy L.A. demonstrators picketed this morning outside the Port of Long Beach, as part of a coordinated effort to shut down the West Coast ports.

At least two people were arrested near the south entrance to Pier J. The Port of Long Beach diverted traffic to another gate.

"It was a relatively minimal impact on the operations," said Art Wong, a Port of Long Beach spokesman.

Port officials estimated the crowd at 300-400 people. Here's a photo, shot by John Klemack of KNBC, of one of the protesters being arrested.

The demonstrators concentrated on the SSA Marine terminal at the Port of Long Beach. SSA is partially owned by Goldman Sachs.

The protesters had largely dispersed by about 9:30 a.m., said Philip Sanfield, a spokesman for the Port of L.A.
