Kim Kardashian Should be Taxed More in California, Video by Courage Campaign Says

Kim K. don't pay?
We once joked that "Occupy that ass" could be the silly title of a porn spoof but, as they say, this shit is real.

The class-warfare train is about a six-pack away from literally marching with pitchforks to the good side of the tracks, and the latest salvo aims at millionaire tabloid candy Kim Kardashian who, it would seem, hasn't been paying her fair share of taxes.

No, even with allegations of a big, mutlimillion-dollar payday for a Kardashian-Kris Humphries wedding that went nowhere fast, the tax man don't cometh for the rich and self-obsessed like he comes for you and I:

The Courage Campaign along with the California Federation of Teachers and other groups are behind a new video that asks Kardashian to give it up for Uncle Sam (or, more accurately, California).

A video released by the Campaign notes that Kardashian made $12 million in 2010 but paid a state tax rate of only 10.3, one point above the 9.3 percent someone making $47,000 that year would have paid.

The Campaign says:

Millionaires like the Kardashians only pay a tiny bit more in taxes than a middle-class Californian. That's not OK, especially when budget cuts are decimating our communities. Watch our video that clearly demonstrates the unfairness of the situation.

They want millionaires (and billionaires) in the Golden State to pitch in an extra 3 to 5 percent, which could add a much-needed $6 billion to state coffers and, perhaps, fend off cuts to education.

It's an idea that even some billionaires and Republicans, L.A.'s Eli Broad, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt and former governator Arnold Schwarzenegger among them, have backed.

The Campaign wants to put the millionaire tax increase before state voters in November.

In the video, Kardashian is seen saying, " ... Being on TV has changed my life, because you get lots of free stuff."

We wonder if the Calabasas queen will, er, get behind this tax-the-rich scheme. We'll be watching TMZ to find out.

Oprah is not cold in the media grave for more than five minutes and the Kardashian Konsortium is moving in on her turf. Perhaps Kris thinks starting a fledgling magazine is the best tax deduction on Earth to avoid paying more taxes http://bit.ly/AvS0gk

How about a tax for being annoying?

If $1,000,000 x 30% = $300,000 and $40,000 x 35% = $14,000. how exactly is someone who makes $40k paying more in taxes?

I didn't bother to figure out the exact percentage someone making $1M or $40k would pay, those were just rounded off examples.

10% is 10% regardless of the total. why must we tax the wealthy a higher percentage. Would we all like a tiered sales tax on our purchases. Buy $100 and tax is 10% but buy $1,000 and get taxed at 30% (I don't think this would fly) and this is what we are asking.

Let's see, KK pays 10% on say 10,000,000 so that's $1,000,000 per year in just state tax.  A person making 50,000 is paying say 9% so that's less than 5,000 per year.  So, somehow KK is not paying enought?  If the state raised it by 3%, that's only an additional $300,000 which willnot balance the CA budget of negative 12 BILLION!!

CA government is a collection of some of the dumbest people on earth!

Only Kim Kardashian? It almost looks like she's being picked on, as there really isn't much that's interesting about her. Or is this, the IRS, 72 hour marriage, penalty? That's how California can balance their budget and perhaps promote something resembling familial stability. You pay a tax if the couple files for divorce less than one year post nuptials.
