in addition, every experience i have here sucks. Starbucks employees are weird and rude (surprisingly), dentists are weird, car repair shops are crappy, streets are roamed with very strange people.

where is the fashion? where is the city life? where is the very famously portrayed hollywood life by TV and media? NONE.

I feel like I am in a developing country side somewhere lost in some developing places on some weird planets. All you get is a bunch of crazy people asking you very annoying and crazy questions? like, "do you drink, do you watch movies" my god, get out of my way, psycho!!!!

Thanks to this post. When I first move to CA, I thought I just make a right turn into a psycho ville. People here are kinda ugly, rude, annoying, judgmental, and worst is thing they think they are on to p of the world for no reason.

Speaking as someone from alabama, who i bet due to popular media is not very popular, i can say it isnt the state itself, but its the people, holy god i loath the majority of californias people and culture. actually scratch that, i lie, they have no culture. its a huge chunk of land with shallowness, hypocrisy, and morons. not to mention smugness.

Not to mention a study found that califonia was one of the least free (both politically and economically) state short of new york and illinois.

also california is an economic drag chute and everything they do, only serves to piss people off.

Texas is the lonestar state for a reason. Its the only state that disregards rules are other states follow. Ie ; if your license is suspended in another state texas will still allow you to drive.

I wish I'd known this before I came to the hate state - that be Colorado. That's twenty years of my life and who knows how much paid in taxes and commerce has been thrown to the swine! I never tried to Californicate anything and all I hear is these bigots blaming us for their woes never mind their own stupid missteps are their undoing. It's their government trying to give illegal immigrants driver's licenses and discount tuition, not this "transplant from California". They are the ones who hate gays so much they passed Amendment 2 and earned the title "The Hate State". I bet these bigots blame us "transplant from California" for all that too because they won't own up to their own shortcomings. I had some life upheavals and left California. Worst mistake ever!!! First Illinois, how do old people live in this frigid environment? I slipped on the ice numerous times, and I'm still young. YUCK!, then Texas, can anyone say police state? Texas thinks they are this independent minded, frontier mentality. Yeah, in Austin, you cannot sneeze without 20 police watching for some reason to harass you. More like a socialist state than any place I have lived. The police threatened to shoot my dog, for NO reason! Getting back to the Golden State ASAP! It's the best state in the union! I will always be a California girl! Gone from Cali two years almost. I just wanna cry. :)

I'm from Arkansas and we have a lot of california people here as well as new yorkers and texans and ect and they like it here in arkansas because the hippies that live here are way nicer and very respectful and do anything to keep the state clean. It's the natural state and as to say california, texas, arkansas, carolina, are all part of the ''south'' so I'm all for the rebels and not the yankees. We like to party hard and live life up and to hell with looking fancy for anyone else.

Why is Ca. the most hated state in America. Well let me see. How can I count the ways? We have a bunch of nazis that walk around working for oil companies using the cloak of being an "environmentalist' lecturing others on the environment even as Oil Companies not only own Ca. schools like Berkeley but also writes the books while the US Military bases and people from Ca. like Holdren, Obama's White House Science Advisor, dumps chemicals into the air, which are causing cancer under the guise of "fighting global warming." We have some of the most corrupt police forces and we even have cops that appear to be on the pay roll of Bank of America and Wells Fargo, both banks that made 350 billion off of running narcotics. We have a LA D.A. and LA County Sheriff Dept that are either apart of these porno child molestation rings or who frequently look the other way when teachers molest children in school and feeds them semen but yet a black man reading a bible is shot dead in Orange County, by cops, in front of his children and no one is arrested. We have corrupt judges that frequent Nazi parties in Pacific Palisades and Hollywood which are made up of a bunch of drug head idiots that think their crap doesn't stink. Ca. I live in a very exclusive neighborhood in L.A. - no fault of my own :), but some of the "exclusive whites" in this community are what I call "white trash with money". That is a term that I use very sparingly and would ONLY use it for the type of self-absorbed idiots who would use our neighborhood as their "second home" and only come around to invite their idiot friends for an entire weekend party. They crowd up our small streets with their limos and big Escalades that are left running for hours just in case the stars want to leave quickly (for another drug run) while getting drunk and stoned out of their gourds, while complaining about global warming.... I am a buyer for a contractor's group and will not buy products made in California if any alternative is possible. Cali is a marvelously beautiful state ran by idiots, and their dumb ideas spread to the rest of us. No to mention that the people are taxed and rgulated beyond all reason.

The reason it has less than half the population of Washington, even though it's weather is way better, is that anyone with intelligence that was born there and not inbred get's the hell out of that screwed up state as fast as possible!
