Crescenta Valley High Suicide? Freshman Dies After Three-Story Plunge off Campus Building

• Tragic.  Either this boy accidentally fell or he voluntarily jumped.  It may get better for his family and the schoolkids, but that will take a while to happen.

• Very sad, my prayers go to the family of this young man.

• As a CV alumni i just want to say that it breaks my heart when people deny any allligations of bullying.  i was bullyed all 4 years of high school and hit a similar rock bottom. although i survived, i always hoped that this would open the eyes of faculty at CV and they would up the security at that school. Teachers and faculty do close to nothing to stop bullying. This needs to change. My heart goes out to the family of the victim.

• As a CV alumna as well, it really breaks my heart to see something like this actually happen before my eyes.. Even second-handedly reading this made me feel as if i was there watching it all happen. CV, though it was a rough era for me, is an absolutely awesome school and to see that something like this would happen only makes me wish that even I could have been there to catch him before he leapt. Whatever circumstances he had, i wish that this could have been avoided, because like christa said, there is much more out in the world for them.  Really sad to hear this, and to the respective families, i wish to send out all of my regards because I know there's nothing that could replace a fellow brother/son.  At these times, i only wish i could have been there to reach my hand out for him :/

• I agree with Debi's point that we have no idea what was going on in this young man's life and whether bullying played a part in his choice to end it or not. As another alumna I knew many CV students who had positive and supportive experiences with their teachers and peers as well as many who experienced the exact opposite. Best wishes for the emotional healing of the boy's family and friends.

• I'm heart broken to hear of such a young life at the cross roads of doing something like this. My prayers go out to the family and friends of this  young person and to those who attend and work at C.V. As an alumna, a part of me feels like it has died as well.

• My husband, daughter and I all went to CV.  My son is a current student and saw the horrific situation today.  At this time, we don't know if bullying is the reason. When my husband and I were at CV, someone committed suicide to imitate a popular star of our day who took their own life.  Regardless, a young life has ended and family/friends are left to wonder why. Suicide has touched our lives and our lives are never the same. Prayers for the family of this victim and the CV community.

• Like Christa, I am also a CV alumna. My brother occasionally subs there and I remain close with many of the teachers and faculty members. This is such a tragedy in the truest sense of the word. It is tragic not just because a life was lost, but because that life could have been saved. While I was a student there, the teachers and staff created a warm, nurturing environment, and I was never at a loss for a caring adult when I needed one. The fact that this poor student did not feel he had anyone to turn to, or had any other choice but to do what he did, is heartbreaking.

• So heartbreaking. As a CV alumna, I can attest that it is a FANTASTIC school - but there's still plenty of the typical teen drama and bullying you're going to find anywhere. In fact, the school's drama dept. just put on plays about bullying, penned by students from their own experiences. I wish teens could get the perspective that IT GETS BETTER. My brother and I were bullied like crazy in elementary and even into middle school (thankfully by the time I hit CV, that ended for me). It's tough to be a child and not have control over your circumstances. The message of hope that adulthood can bring -- that you can CREATE something amazing for yourself -- really needs to get drilled into these kids who are struggling. Whatever they face, it isn't forever. CV has a great reputation and a phenomenal support system. My heart and prayers go out to this student's family as well as to the students and faculty who have had to deal with this tragedy today.
