The end.
The fatal police shooting of an erratic, slow-driving carjacking suspect was caught on live television last night.

Witnesses told Fox 11 News the suspect waved a silver-colored handgun at a bystander from inside the Saturn car he was driving after he stopped at a Shell gas station at the northwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in Koreatown.

It appeared that more than one officer opened fire:

LAPD officials say the pursuit started at 6:16 p.m. at Eastern Avenue and Valley Boulevard in El Sereno. Reports indicated that police believed the man was armed and had carjacked two victims.

In fact, Lt. Commander Andy Smith told Fox 11:

In the city of San Bernardino, the individual that you see behind me we believe was involved in the first carjacking this afternoon where he stole the car from an individual and drove it to Hollenbeck area, city of Los Angeles, about 6:15 this evening in the alley in the area of Valley and Eastern.

The individual robbed at gunpoint, and stole a car, the Saturn you see behind me, from a 65-year-old individual.

After the suspect drove west and ended up adjacent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame he appeared to wave his weapon at bystanders and might have even pointed the gun at his own head, according to the station.

He was seen driving deliberately and even using his turn signals as the suspect headed into Hancock Park and then Koreatown.

By the time the Saturn pulled into the Shell station around 7:30 p.m., it didn't look good for the man.

Los Angeles Times crime reporter Richard Winton tweeted:

Terrible when you've seen so many police chases you can predict when one is going to turn deadly.

As a man was pumping gas into a Cadillac next to the Saturn, the suspect might have pointed his gun at him, prompting what appeared to be at least three officers unload their weapons in a blast of gun smoke and shattered car glass.

The LAPD's Smith said:

He ended up pointing a gun at some point, while he was seated in the car, at some individuals inside of that gas station and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

People waiting at a bus stop on Vermont Avenue appeared to be adjacent to the line of fire but no one else was reported injured. The alleged carjacker was dead at the scene, covered in tarp after he was pulled from the vehicle.

The suspect was said to be 20.

Ok another day when the big bad bully LAPD are wrong for protecting civilians and themselves from ARMED CRIMINAL(S) who have already committed CARJACKINGS and POINTED FIREARM at innocent civilians. I guess the publice would like for the POLICE to invite the criminal to surrender  and turn himself in when appropiate.  Get Real People!!! You may be the next victim of these criminal types.

I saw the video this morning and it’s about time criminalsof this caliber (no pun intended) get what they deserve. Far too often thesecockroaches just get a slap on the wrist and continue to prey on the innocent.Great job LAPD!

Obama was blaming oil companies, windfall profits, the GOP and President Bush when it hit $3.50. In fact, you can find the video on Youtube. Came out of his own mouth.

Wonder what he has to say about that? Oh, that's right... we won't ever find out, because Media Matters, The White House, nor the Media, who takes their marching orders from the previous 2... won't ever put him on the spot about it.

Oh well, they can fix it.

It's not his car.  And the insurance company will probably consider it a total loss.

Please do a little more research before making yourself seem lazy or confused.  The cops already knew he had a gun from the car jackings.  And you can pretty much conclude the cops saw the gun themselves when that one officer and the store owner (that bystander) jumped out of the way.  My guess is the suspect pointed the gun at the two cops and the owner by the white car, thereby threatening their lives with death or bodily harm.  It was a justified shoot, great job LAPD.

The story specifically TELLS US, that he pointed the gun at OTHER CUSTOMERS. Its not just the word of the Police either. Several of the witnesses, all stated the SAME THING.

Don't tell me. Let me guess. You're a liberal?

The only criticism I have for the LAPD is their trigger control.  There are plenty of civilian around.

They seemed pretty accurate and controlled to me. Go join-- walk a mile in their boots. I'm glad the nasty jerk is not terrorizing society any longer.

As I implied, the shooting appears to be justified.  My only issue is the location of the shooting (they don't have that choice, and it is a gas station) and the number of civilians nearby.  It's not a criticism, just an observation.

Ok, sorry. Background is always a consideration. Now I read 60 shots, and I know from experience that training is to shoot until the threat is neutralized, but geez-- Swiss Cheese! Guess 11 Coppers needed to qualify. They don't call it a "mad minute" for nothing. Oh well, at least the punk is now a non-breeder. All's well that ends well.
