The Great Los Angeles Hailstorm of 2012, in Instagrams
Los Angeles and its outskirts got the closest thing SoCal gets to snow yesterday: a hailstorm of epic (or at least dime-sized) proportions.

But we're going to put aside the "L.A. weather wussies" jokes for now, so dumbstruck are we by the gorgeous, hail-themed Instagrams that inundated Twitter on Monday.
They were shot all through the hills, valleys and freeways of greater Los Angeles...
... filtering a rare and cozy weather event through the quaint, nostalgic lens of Instagram, hipsterest photo app of them all. Might as well have been the Great Los Angeles Snowstorm of 1944!
Here they are, our 25 favorites. There were so many great ones, it was hard to whittle it down that far, even -- but we felt these particular 'grams all captured, in one way or another, the unequipped Los Angeles terrain at odds with little angel turds from space.
What we learned: Hail is most lovely when paired with uncovered lawn furniture in February; flower blossoms/palm trees; freckled California girls in tank tops; etc.
