Miramonte Parents to Protest Outside Scandal-Plagued School This Morning
Parents of kids at Miramonte Elementary School in Florence-Firestone have had enough.

After last week's revelations that not one but two teachers are alleged to have molested students in class, and after one report that a girl might have been assaulted by both suspects, there's action afoot.
As the school district is saying that Tuesday and Wednesday will be off days as a result of the scandal, some parents are pulling their students out a day early and ...
... marching in front of the school in unincorporated South L.A. this morning, according to reports.
Parents will be out in force at 7 a.m.
And who could blame them?
Even after a student alleged that Mark Berndt tried to touch her improperly 18 years ago the district allowed him to continue teaching, apparently without the kind of extra supervision that might have prevented last week's scandal:
Berndt was charged with 23 counts of lewd acts on a child.
After his arrest, authorities went after fellow Miramonte teacher Martin Bernard Springer, who was accused of having fondled two girls in his classroom.

... knew each other. School newsletters show that they took their classes on field trips together over the last decade: one to Malibu, for example, and another to Griffith Park.
A community meeting about the scandal was scheduled for later in the week at a local high school.
