Miramonte Sex Abuse Scandal Might Have Inspired Many New Allegations, Including an Alleged Rape, at L.A. Schools

But now we have to ask if the scandal at Miramonte Elementary School has inspired victims to come forward, or if it has simply opened a door for people to complain about things that might not be criminal.
The Daily Breeze this week cracked open the abuse-allegation books at L.A. Unified School District and found that claims of sex abuse have gone through the roof in the wake of Miramonte:
At least 25 complaints have been registered with the LAUSD following the Miramonte scandal in which two teachers have been accused of lewd acts with students.
The complaints include one allegation that a student was raped, according to the paper.
Eight of the complaints allege sexual improprieties that people say happened one to three years earlier, indicating that victims might have felt emboldened by the Miramonte situation:
In mid-January, before the scandal broke out, there were 0 such complaints, according to the Breeze.
Some of the allegations are less serious, including claims of inappropriate sexual behavior (which could include staring at body parts) and verbal harassment of a sexual nature.
School officials, as usual, couldn't or wouldn't give up details about the complaints, including the alleged rape. Because they love letting parents know what's really going on.
