Paul Adame, Germain Elementary School Janitor, Arrested on Suspicion of Lewd Acts on Child: LAPD Seeking More Possible Victims

Germain Elementary.
As if the L.A. school district needed one more scumbag touching children, the LAPD today announced the arrest of an elementary school janitor for alleged lewd acts on a child.

The confluence of employees accused of sex crimes at the system (two teachers at Miramonte Elementary School last week were booked on suspicion of unspeakable acts, setting off a firestorm) makes you wonder who's been at the wheel at the nation's second largest school district.

This week the arrestee was ...

... Paul Adame, a janitor at Germain Elementary School in Chatsworth.

According to an LAPD statement released today:

On February 5, 2012, around 3 p.m., the mother of a student at Germain Elementary School went to the Devonshire Area police station and reported an inappropriate contact between a janitor employed at the school and her child. The Devonshire Detective Sexual Assault Unit responded to the station and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

With the assistance of Los Angeles School Police Department, the suspect, Paul Adame, was identified, and arrested for 288(a) P.C. (Lewd Act with a Child).

Adame was jailed in lieu of $100,000 but was released the next day after he posted bail, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's inmate information database.

Here's the thing. This might not be over for parents at Germain: Cops want them to speak to their children about Adame to determine if there might be more possible victims.

If you're a parent with this suspicion, call the LAPD's Devonshire Sexual Assault Unit at (818) 832-0609.

First of all I personally know Paul for many years and when he was working at Calahan. I have nothing but nice things to say about him. I strongly believe he didnt do what they are saying. My kid went to Calahan and he was very nice and respectful to all parents. All ways saying good morning and always smiling! We would talk every morning. Always cleaning up after the kids all the kids liked him. He is a family man. He is the best janator ever by far and a hard worker always helping out has a big heart I've gotten to know him every well thought the years always talk about his son. Dont judge Paul if you dont got all the facts. I do believe Paul is innocent i will continue to pray for Paul because I do delieve in him. I wish him the best in life. He is a good guy trust me i know!!!

I worked with Paul at Callahan. This allegations make no sense.I was the last line of custodians laid off in November of 2010.By this time the entire Custodial staff has gotten super duper busy.A Plant manager working by himself in the morning and a veteran Custodian doing the Swing/Night shift. There is no way and no free time to BS a round with anyone those bathroom get destroyed by the children very often, the cafeteria from Breakfast/Nutrition to lunch time the custodian is beyond busy running for his life taking out the trash that the kids are dumping every blink of an eye.A school feeds hundreds of kids a day and one man doing the entire cafeteria by himself. No teacher or T.A.helping you to take out and dump those bags weighing with all the leftover of milk and food around 50pounds per bag to the dumpsters. All my precious ex coworkers I chat from time have said how super busy without relief in sight have gotten.Theres hardly time to even, take a comfortable 30minute lunch because the Principal, vice Principal, coordinator to the Main office calling you...Seriously Paul probably didn't have time even to take a dump and he going to have time to be in Private seducing a child???.Just On the timing makes no sense. Also like I said I worked with Paul as a Man he wasn't weird like staring at children or having some weird uneasy look,or looking secretive that made you wonder.Well: good thing the district laid me off.I just had it how the district treats their employees also the Other ladder of managers and demands with cuts and expect ONE GUY to clean up the entire school campus with classrooms it was unbelievable.Just the amount of work custodians never had social time to be playing with the children..Please get real. The Media just likes to stir drama and misery, that Angelenos live their lives with fear.

How come no one bothered to report the outcome of his court date yesterday? Probably cause he HASN'T been charged with anything because he DIDN'T do anything ! I'm sure no one will take the time to clear his name if and when he is proven INNOCENT!

I am wondering the same thing. Has anyone bothered to investigate the accuser.

i recently was doing community service at that school which i also attended when i was a kid. i like the school but i do think some people like in all places are a little uptight and some racist because of the looks i would get but thats okay because not everyone is like that and i saw a lot of my teachers from when i was there but thats not the point here. this guy has been put out like they already convicted him of a crime. i personally worked with him and saw a lot of kids always willing to help clean the tables at lunch time. he never seemed weird like he would do anything like that but anything is possible. i just wish he would get  a fair shot and if in the end it came out that he did do something inappropriate with some kids then thats that. Just dont go jumping ahead, no one is perfect.

My child attends Calahan. Paul was always smiling, always helping the kids and also showing them to take responsibility for their mess. Paul always was professional, he would not only talk to the students, but talk to us parents. He is nice and very respectful. I could never imagine him doing such a thing. Have you ever asked yourself if this man is proven innocent, how this allegation has and will always ruin his future! He has a son! I strongly believe in innocence until proven guilty. I don't know Paul outside of school and have not seen him since he's left, but I would hate for people to talk horribly about my dad, husband, or son before they were proven guilty. Come on people!!! Stop talking trash until we all find out together what really happened. I am in constant prayer for the child and for Paul.

The only reason he ever got the job, was his grandma worked for the district for now 35 years....... Shoe in, baby!!!I'm sure the other charges years ago(car theft) were done by random people setting him up!! Because people were probably born just to put false allegations on Paul!

Wake up people.... No one cares about him... Until he tries to have a relationship with a 11 year old girl! God will judge....

I agree, Innocent until Proven Guilty!! The TRUTH will come out!

As a volunteer at the school, I have walked past Paul numerous times, and he never he smiled, looked up, or made an contact. I thought it was weird. When I would see him 'rake' leaves, no piles and no leaves were ever collected. I just thought he was lazy.

Blessed- "advocate for the children" is a pretty generous to say for Paul. Plenty of children stayed away from him because he was "very mean". Maybe you should ask around before you start putting the pervert on a pedestal!

No one is putting him on a pedestal, but in our country I'm pretty sure people are Innocent until proven Guilty, not Guilty until proven Innocent. No one but the victim even knows what the lewd conduct supposedly was. Just because someone isn't as friendly as you would like them to be, doesn't make them a child molester. Let the investigation take it's course, and we'll all see what is proven to have actually happened, hopefully.

Actually, most children like Paul. He does advocate for the children, he is very protective of them.  I've spent hundreds of hours around the man and I think he takes a lot more responsiblity for their wellbeing than certificated personnel (teachers), or office and cafeteria workers, aides, and after school supervisors. Kids did not like Dorothy -- she had them sticking their hands in filthy cold water to use filthy sponges to clean filthy tables every day when I was there.  Only school I ever saw that at. Talk about unsanitary practices...  Now THAT'S something to complain about.

@Skyfish i literally have nothing to say on this post other than to state that Dorothy was amazing. I'm now 23 and attended Germain as a child - she helped shape my youth. She taught me to work hard, and the harder I worked, the bigger the benefit. We would receive frozen dr.pepper ice pops when we cleaned up after ourselves or picked up 15 pieces of trash. We helped her, she helped us. Whether this Paul guy is guilty or not is really not for me to say, but I absolutely will say something to defend Dorothy. She worked relentlessly and taught valuable lessons. You may not have seen value in her or her desire to teach ethics to children, but I did...even at the age of seven. Also, I'm a year late to this...still felt the need to say something.

Well mayb kids do things they shouldn't b doing!! Like not picking up their own trash or they litter! I see what kids do, I worked with kids over 10 years!! I see ppl tend to judge what they see @ first or take things 2 a whole other level!! "don't judge a book by it's cover," he's there to do his job!!

Paul is a great guy! My kids love him and are egar to help him daily. Always say great things and in my oppinion he is a total advocate for the children. Paul is a wonderful single dad and compassionate son, gives of himself and serves others with no expectation! It's a shame that grown invidividuals jump on a band wagon to literaly distroy someones character and selfworth. Think before you speak people!

Paul is a perfectly nice person, worked as a Plant Manager for a long time for LAUSD. Only new to Germain.  I worked both at Germain, and at his prior school.  Problem is that Paul is not ever going to be the cleaner that Dorothy was.  My two cent guess, someone misconstrued, and admin is pissed off to have a lazy (compared with Dorothy) janitor, so they are jumping at a chance to get rid of him.  They are a little uptight and racist at that school, IMHO,

If only LAUSD would change its policy of janatorial celibacy.

Both my children attended this school, It's a fantastic school.  How long had the janitor been employed there? anyone know?

Not long, just this year. Dorothy retires the end of last school year, and she was there for like 30 years.

I think I know... He used to work at my elementary school in Northridge. (Calahan street elementary school) and he got laid off last year. I saw a picture on another link and it looks exactly like him. When I went to school there 2 years ago, I knew there was something weird about him, so I avoided him at all costs and I knew he had problems and... Look at him now!

Puxfreak

This guy was hired this year. Only after they prematurely retired Dorothy because she had been a janltor for many years and LAUSD felt it was no longer economically viable to keep a lovely older lady employed. Good job LAUSD.
