Flynn is one of two Venice residents arrested after a brutal street fight in Isla Vista.
Two young regulars around Venice have been arrested for attempted murder in Isla Vista, a small party town adjacent to UC Santa Barbara.

Jon-Kane McCullough, 19, and Sean Flynn, 21, were tracked down in their hometown -- a joint operation between the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and the LAPD.

Investigators tell a local Santa Barbara paper called Noozhawk that the two Venice kids got mixed up in a massive midnight showdown...

... involving somewhere around 20 guys.

At about 12:20 a.m. on February 18, the Isla Vista Foot Patrol reportedly came upon at least two huge groups of males wailing on each other on Del Playa Drive, which runs right along a gorgeous strip of coast.

More from Noozhawk:

After the initial investigation, detectives determined a 21-year-old man, who may have tried to stop the fight, was beaten unconscious, according to Sugars. He was hospitalized with head injuries. Another man, age 24, who also may have tried to stop the fight, was cut on the hand with a knife. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment, Sugars said.

He said that within minutes of the first two injuries, a second stabbing incident was reported in the area of Camino Del Sur and Sabado Tarde in which a 20-year-old man received a stab wound to his abdomen. The victim was hospitalized for treatment for a few days and released.

Both Flynn and McCullough are suspected of "attempted murder" in the second attack on the 24-year-old.

And McCullough is additionally suspected of trying to murder the 20-year-old in the third incident, which went down one block west at Camino Del Sur and Sabado Tarde.

They're both being held under $1 million bail.

The arrestees are listed on Facebook as recent graduates of Venice High School, otherwise known as the iconic campus in Grease and Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" video. (Just last year, two Venice High seniors on the verge of graduating were killed in gang gunfire at a nearby park.)

Flynn appears to have played varsity football for Venice. His player profile puts his height at 6'4" and weight at 210 pounds -- not the kind of guy to get in a fight with. On Facebook, he lists his employer as "thug life."

McCullough wears more of a rugged James Dean look in his profile pictures. (See above.) He says he works in construction.

Do you know the suspects? Witness the fight? Let us know.

unbelievably biased. This is a classic self defense case. These men were outnumberd and literally fighting for their lives. After getting stabbed by the BLACK gang members clearly targetting a group of white kids just trying to enjoy a night in santa barbara DOES in fact make that a hate crime. Did i mention this "brawl" was an ambush of at least a 5:1 ratio of BLACK to WHITE kids...THEY WERE JUST TRYING TO LEAVE!!! i know this for a fact. i know the men behind bars and they are NOT who you are portraying them to be!!!

You don't want to mention that it was  black gang members that targeted the white kids?   This was clearly a hate crime.  Sean had run away but had to come back to help the others that did not get away.  Sean got stabbed by them.  Don't you have any pictures of the black gang members?   This is a very biased story.

I know these kids and if they were fighting it was only in self defense. Why do you have pictures of them. I'm pretty certain they nor their families gabe you consent to use these photographs

Exactly what does their high school have to with this story? One of the guys is 21.

So you got some of the facts for your story from what someone wrote on their Facebook page and you managed to work a Britney Spears reference and the filming of Grease into this piece. If that wasn't bad enough, exactly what kind of journalist writes a story that explains that someone "appears to have" done something.I wonder about all the other "facts" you are reporting on in regards to this arrest and story.

And, I can see why you aren't writing for the New York Times.

You people got the story mixed up. The black guys assaulted the white kids on a 6 against 40 the white kids being out numbered. The white kids were chased down the street and being assaulted. They clearly were in self defense.

Kanearoo22 is exactly right we were in self defense!!!!
