Mitt Romney Faces Class Warfare Protest in Los Angeles Today

Categories: Class Warfare

Mitt Romney's fund-raising trip to L.A. today will not be without opposition from the so-called 99 percent.

Yeah, class warfare is coming to Century City as the man who will probably be the Republican nominee for president of the United States returns to Los Angeles to tap some of that big money we have.

The group Good Jobs LA along with labor activists and Occupy protesters will be out in force:

All the magic happens at 4:30 p.m. outside the Century Plaza Hotel, 2025 Avenue of the Stars, according to a statement from Good Jobs LA.

The group accuses Romney of being the candidate of the "1 percent" who has not paid his fare share of taxes. According to the statement:

In 2010, Mitt Romney paid a federal tax rate of 13.9% percent - lower than many secretaries, nurses and firefighters. Under the "Buffett Rule" - a proposed law to prevent millionaires from paying a lower tax rate than working people - Mitt Romney owes the 99%, $3.95 million in taxes for 2009 and 2010.

With high unemployment and devastating cuts to education, health and safety services hurting LA communities, Good Jobs LA is calling on the richest 1% to pay their fair share towards rebuilding our broken economy.

Also expected to attend: Members of Americans United for Change, members of the local Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and undocumented immigrant students known as Dream Act participants.

Be there.

Are the union members  getting " sick leave"  to attend ?... Hm, what an abuse of the system . Is Antonio going to join them? It is also  disgraceful that they admit they are "undocumented immigrant students". If they don t like our system they should go back. Of course they can`t free load over there with taxpayers money. That`s the reason they want Obama to get reelected. More hand- outs!

Pretty sure the public knows that Good Jobs LA, SEIU, and Occupy are the same group of fools.

By the way the numbers are wrong: Romney and his wife actually paid $44,000 more in taxes than they owed. Have you paid more taxes than you owed?

Christopher:

The numbers aren't wrong. They're saying he paid at a much lower rate than most working people, which is true. Almost everybody who pays payroll taxes ends up paying more than they "owe." Thus the concept of the refund. Complicated, I know.

I'm disagreeing with the statements' claim. I still say it would be nutty to pay more taxes than one is required to, but of course democrats want everyone to pay their way.

Yeah, Christopher, god forbid every American pays his own way. That's not a Republican ideal at all, either. (See the accusation, below, that there are folks, like illegals, who don't pay their own way, which is a long-debunked theory of the far right. Irony? And remember ... Mitt is Mexican!).
