Rush Limbaugh's 'Slut' Comment Is Illegal Under Florida Law, Says Gloria Allred

Rush Limbaugh and the "slut" in question.
Advertisers running for the hills can't spook Rush Limbaugh, America's most popular (and most conservative) talk-show host. Nor can half a nation of angry feminists.

But ace celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred -- now there's a fembot to get scared of. We're talking the same L.A. attorney who helped force Herman Cain out of the Republican primaries, and recently set a liberating legal precedent for girls who want to slam their cheating exes online. (Allred called it a "victory for women's rights.)

Now she's asking a county attorney in Palm Beach County, Florida...

... to investigate Limbaugh for violating Section 836.04 of the Florida Statues when he called Sandra Fluke a "slut" on his radio show for testifying in favor of contraceptives. Limbaugh later apologized, but half-heartedly.

The section reads as follows:

Defamation.--Whoever speaks of and concerning any woman, married or unmarried, falsely and maliciously imputing to her a want of chastity, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

If county attorney Denise Neiman does accept Allred's challenge, Limbaugh could wind up with a misdemeanor for defamation. But much more damaging would be this lougie on the face of the First Amendment, and the fact that Limbaugh pretty much got beat up by a girl -- Wilshire Boulevard's finest.

Hate to keep mentioning Andrew Breitbart, but god would we love to hear the slut-shaming obscenities that would be flying from his trap right now. Especially in the California clear of them durned Florida Statutes. (Only thing Allred and Breitbart have in common: They're always good for an L.A. angle to the latest national firestorm.)

Below, Allred's open letter in full.

Try and make this a class-action suit towards anyone using those words to describe someone's bellyaiking to the Congress to have tax payers to pay for their own irresponsible behavior. Gloria only represents women that are slanted towards the left.

"imputing to her a want of chastity" - in other words, that she's not chaste.

Good luck proving that one, since she was discussing her birth control.  Too funny!

Thank you, Gloria - from all the women who are incensed by this male attack on women. We have to work 40 hours a week and take care of personal responsibilities that precludes us from initiating such action as your lawsuit.  For you we are grateful.

What Limpballs said shouldn't be criminal, but it sure seems to me there is a cause of action for a civil defamation suit.

This is a story that deserves momentum. Rush LAME-baugh contiues to drive a wedge between Americans. Now he's alienated half the population with his derisive and defamatory comments about Ms. Fluke. He's the immoral compass of the Republican Party which has morphed into some kind of weird mob. Ronald Reagan would be ashamed. Oh, and don't get your hopes up with regard to Mr. Lamebaugh being brought up on charges. He broadcasts from heavily-Republican Palm Beach County.

Wrote about the lead-up to this yesterday on AnnArbor.com (Michigan, where Rush Limbaugh is also attacking our writers of food books now). And it's not any ultimate victory from a court viz slander that'll take him down: It'll just take a day or two of discovery.
