Marijuana: Republican Dana Rohrabacher Wags Finger at Democrat Obama

Much has been made lately of the Republican party's move to the right and its stubborn refusal to work with Democrats even on issues that some of them it once championed (such as Mitt Romney's Massachusetts health care plan).

Well, welcome to opposite land, California, where a conservative Orange County congressman is wagging his finger at Democratic president Barack Obama for being ... anti-weed!

You gotta love it:

Huntington Beach's Rohrabacher joined state Assemblyman Tom Ammiano and state Sen. Mark Leno at the California Unity Conference & Citizen Lobby Day this week to denounce the Obama administration's crackdown on medical marijuana in California.

Rohrabacher told the pro-cannabis crowd:

I just want you to know, that as a Republican, I know you are going to have a lot of problems with the Republicans. Well, you just tell them Dana Rohrabacher, who was Ronald Reagan's special assistant and speech-writer, is the one who is leading the charge to make sure we aren't wasting law enforcement dollars that should go to protecting people against murders, rapists ...

At which point they all checked their joints to ensure that the shit they were smoking was just marijuana.

The desire for Marijuana legalization crosses party lines, as does prohibition. When election are won and lost over the issue, eg, the OR AG race, things will change.Dems and Reps, different pages from the same bad book!

This is the beginning of political power gained by being pro MMJ. If you are against it you lose. This will enhance and accelerate regulation and is a nation builder not a destroyer. This also creates more pathways to legal hemp production--- independence from oil and independence from forest destruction. As long as MMJ stays away from Wal-Mart / CVS archetypes and as long as MMJ stays away from insurance schemes...MMJ has an excellent future...not just for patients but for all.

It's hard to tell which way the wind is blowing -- but with the carpert bagger Howard Dean’s coming to town to endorse Garcetti and with Obama's elevating Tony V to national prominance, people might start looking favorably at the GOP if they continue to make sense.

Garcetti and the other Dems have been slashing city services endangering all our lives, while the psychopathic City Attorney Trutanich attacks Pot Shops and has been doing everything possible to increase the profits of the drug gangs with the support of the Obama Administration.

Then, the Dem US Atty Gen conducts a phony grand jury investigation in order to white wash all the rampant criminal activity at City Hall --- Here's my preview of the Grand Jury Investigation's report, when and if it it is released: "While there were a few instances of illegal behavior, they were confined to low level employees and those very, very few instances of wrongdoing were promptly handled as soon as they came to light." Signed The Obama Administration. I call it the "See No Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil" Grand Jury.

This never-ending Corruption and Incompetence has the ability to turn LA away from the Dems. These arrogants hot shots thought that their precious CRA was safe, and now it's DEAD!!!

If the GOP should emerge from its own psychotic delusions and start making sense like Dana R, LA just might cease to be a wholely owned subisdiary of the Dem Party -- and I am a Dem.
