Two Stabbed in Homophobic Rage in Echo Park: VIDEO

Two men were stabbed in Echo Park last week in what could be ultimately considered a hate crime, and a suspect was captured on video.

The LAPD yesterday uploaded two security video clips of the confrontation (after the jump), stating that a suspect is heard calling out, "You guys are fucking faggots," before he walks away with two associates.

It all happened ...

... at Echo Park Avenue and Montana Street -- near a hipster stretch of Sunset Boulevard that includes The Echo club -- shortly after midnight on Thursday, May 24, according to the LAPD's Northeast Division.

According to Northeast's YouTube statement, the suspect ...

... walks away with his 2 associates, then runs back toward the Victims waiting for a bus and stabs Victim-1 in the abdomen ...

Then he ...

... is running south on Echo Park. He stops, takes a fighting stance, and as Victim-2 approaches, stabs Victim-2 in the midsection, striking the hip bone.

A friend of one of the victims blogged that her pal has a rainbow sticker on his bike. She says the suspect was "saying really awful homophobic slurs:"

Brian was stabbed in his stomach, right above his belly button. He is alive and discharged, as this luckily didn't hit anything vital. Our other friend (name withheld) was stabbed in his hip, so hard, it fractured his pelvis. He is still recovering in the hospital.

We tried to get more info from both the LAPD's Northeast Division and LAPD Media Relations so we could help the cops do their jobs and find the culprit, but they were absolutely no help to the second most read news publication in Los Angeles.

In any case, if you know anything, maybe you'll have better luck getting through: 323-344-5701.

We all cannot be everywhere, so we tend to rely on our own experiences.  I remember when Jackie Goldberg was Hollywood's council person, anti-gay behavior received prompt attention.  I've heard Garcetti wouldn't recognize a gay person even if he looked in a mirror.

We're up in CD #4 and while LaBonge is not my favorite person, I do not recall any type of indifference to Gays from his office.  I am certain that if this occured in Tom's district, he would take a lead role.  I also cannot imagine our Senior Lead Officer from the Hollywood Division giving less than 100% of her dedication to anyone who was a victim.

Perhaps we have two LA's.  One for the affluent people in the Hills (CD #4) and another for the Flats (CD #13).  It's hard to tell unless one can be everyone at once.

Imagine! The LAPD not being a help? But they are such "protecting and serving" heroes...I just can't believe it.  At least they showed up. That is more than I would have bet on...
