Update: Headline has been changed to include the victim's name, Myron Chisem, as provided to the Associated Press by his "friend," Shawn Butler. The same friend tells KPCC that the suspected shooter "was a very nice boy and he has always been. Quiet, no problems. And Myron loved him to death."

On the same night that three Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents were shot on the job in NorCal -- and about a month after a fatal shootout between agents at the Long Beach federal courthouse -- another ICE agent died just after 9 p.m. on Thursday while sitting in his home in Carson.

The victim's 14-year-old son, who sheriff's officials say made the 911 call after the shooting, is also believed to be the killer, City News Service reports. And according to KNX news radio, investigators believe the young teen...

... was standing in the family's big suburban backyard when he fired a single shot from his dad's own U.S. government-issued gun. It apparently pierced through the ground-floor window and hit his father inside.

Sheriff's officials have arrested the alleged shooter for domestic violence.

The father and son live in a pristine row of houses along Broadacres Avenue (along with the man's girlfriend, says the L.A. Times), only a few doors down from Broadacres Elementary:

The victim, apparently in his early 40s, was a special agent for Homeland Security Investigations, according to ICE. Director John Morton released this statement:

"I am deeply saddened to report that one of our ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents died tragically at his home in the Los Angeles area overnight. This is a difficult time for the family and loved ones of the agent, and for everyone at ICE. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers."

The L.A. County Coroner's office says it will not release the agent's name until next of kin has been notified.
