Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: The Gay Rights Fight
We never thought we'd see the day when an A-list rapper like Jay-Z would defend gay rights, let alone a champion fighter.![]()
Mayweather
But following our reports on L.A.-based Manny Pacquiao's anti-gay statements, future Hall of Fame boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. begged to differ.
He took to Twitter today and said this:
I stand behind President Obama & support gay marriage. I'm an American citizen & I believe people should live their life the way they want.
— Floyd Mayweather (@FloydMayweather) May 16, 2012
We think the stance is extra brave because ... Mayweather is currently serving time at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas for domestic violence.
Kidding aside, however, he has joined a chorus of folks blasting Pacquiao, who cited his religion in condemning same-sex marriage.
Perhaps the Las Vegas brawler was just using the news to tease us for what would be the fight of the century: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.
