The parents of Sasha Rodriguez, a 15-year-old girl who died of an ecstasy overdose after attending 2010's Electric Daisy Carnival rave at the L.A. Coliseum, have come to a settlement with the venue and the promoter after they filed suit alleging negligence.

A notice of the settlement was filed this week, but formal paperwork still has to be signed and submitted to court by the end of June, plaintiff's attorney Steven Archer told the Weekly.

The terms or possible cash amount were not revealed. Archer would only say that ...

... there was indeed an undisclosed cash payment forthcoming as part of the deal:

All those named in the settlement, including the publicly run Coliseum, Insomniac, the promoter of EDC, and former Coliseum events manager Todd DeStefano, would be off the hook after papers are signed, Archer said:

The settlement is a global settlement against all defendents.

The suit originally asked for $5 million.

Archer said that one good outcome of the tragedy is the focus on the Coliseum and its issues:

It's a shame that it took the death of a 15-year-old girl to draw the light of justice and attention to what was going on at the Coliseum. My clients are confident that the continuing criminal and civil litigation will bring to light even more information and lead to even more changes.

DeStefano, Insomniac chief Pasquale Rotella, and another rave promoter, Go Ventures' Reza Gerami, were indicted for alleged bribery in a scandal that erupted following Rodriguez's death. All of the above have pleaded not guilty and maintained innocence.

The allegations are that DeStefano was receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in under-the-table payments from rave promoters.

But more issues came to light, including allegations that union hands received cash payments for working some events and, more recently, that a porn video was filmed at the Coliseum, apparently without the knowledge of management.

Archer told us last year that settlement talks were slow going with the defendants. We asked him if something had changed and he said yes, but that he couldn't divulge what it was.

All hell broke loose for Coliseum leaders after Rodriguez died in the days following the June, 2010 EDC party that attracted more than 140,000 over two days.

The event was supposed to only allow those 16 and older inside the venue. The promoter later vowed to switch to an 18-and-older policy.

Still, public officials questioned why raves were held at the Coliseum and, ultimately, they were shut out.

The truth is no match for the pounding drums and bonfire torches of hysteria summoned to confront a favorite scapegoat.

A global settlement has been reached with all parties sued. All parties who had some tangent of contact with Sacha Rodriguez her last day.

All except the party whose contact with Sacha Rodriguez became the final critical variable of the tragedy. They have escaped all responsibility as a result of the failure to conduct a proper inquiry and the mandate to declare a predetermined conclusion.

The original reports said that paramedics arrived at EDC and found Sacha Rodriguez unconscious.  She was transported by ambulance to E.R. at California Medical Center.

Original reports from California Medical Center stated that Sacha Rodriguez passed in and out of consciousness before falling into an irreversible state of unconsciousness and subsequent death.

She was unconscious when paramedics arrived at EDC and she gained consciousness at California Medical Center.

Assuming she had already digested the Ecstasy and reached the maximum levels in her bloodstream - then we are looking at a very strange sequence of events for attributing her death solely to an overdose.

The emergency room treatment at CMC was proper for most people displaying similiar symptoms due to other causes.

The treatment is Counter productive when those symptoms are related to MDMA overdose.

The unfortunate death of Sasha Rodriguez was the only green-light needed for L.A. area elected officials to unleash the most bombastic, irrational. hysteria driven witch-hunt in at least a decade.

What did we get from the civic/local media combined mob set loose shouting and raging against their scapegoat? We drove away the sales tax and lodging tax revenue, small business vendor revenue and employment generated by the home grown entrepeneur  with a proven and reputable track record that was forced to flee to Vegas. We made the County-State owned Coliseum poorer and less capable of financing improvements by evicting an annual book-rate rental event. We demonstrated to the youth and the EDC music crowd what it feels like to be discriminated, demonized, persecuted and denied any chance to speak or defend yourself.

We allowed the politicians 2 weeks of demagogeic grandstanding against EDS, while diverting the public's focus from our local officials corruption and failure to deal with pertinent issues.

What about Sacha Rodriguez? At least we deserve self-righteous self-congratulation for making sure it won't happen again - right?

No, that is probably wrong. The tremendous opportunity for education-based prevention and awareness was crushed by a feeding frenzy of ignorance. The tragedy of Sacha Rodriguez is just as likely, or even more likely, to occur again after turning her death into a mass teach-in for ignorance.

All I have to say it's the parents' fault. Now they're just being selfish, greedy and angry, looking for someone or some people to blamed. I'm not surprise the parents had poor parenting, since the girl came from a Mexican background. I'm not being racist here, but a lot of Mexican parents, didn't say all, tend to do a poor job at parenting. They should blame no one but themselves for the lost of their daughter.

Raves suck anyway. People who delude themselves that the music is good.                                   Djs who think that are "musicians" and "talented"...LOL!      What a joke.

My question is why were they letting their 15 yo CHILD go to a rave or even stay out that late to go anywhere ? The wrong people are being held responsible. They need to take a look at their parenting.

1. Unless youre at least 18 you shouldn't be there, dumbass parents = dumbass kids2. Drugs are going to be in abundance at these festivals especially, its just going to happen and if you dont know that as a parent, youre an idiot3. Why aren't bars and beer companies held responsible for the thousands of death a year directly caused by their products, these parents want a cut

who says she even took the pills in the rave it may have been taken before she even entered

You know what plane and simple there shouldnt be all ages and 16+ raves they all should be at least 18+ cause the young society isnt mature enough and gets influenced to easily where at 18 they have a little higher maturity level it was her choice to due ecstasy no one forced her to just cause its a rave doesnt mean she needs to due ecstasy im 21 and go to just enjoy the music my first rave i went to i was 20 so dont give us that bullshit that the lights and just cause its a rave influences doing drugs cause thats bullshit they choose to everybody has a choice to say no so make a smart decision rave event holders start making them 18+ or 21+ then shit like that wont happen

Insomniac should not be held responsible in the slightest.  There was no evidence what so ever that insomiac was related to the drugs she ingested.  The people who gave them to her are responsible for her death.  I highly doubt that she was a completely innocent victim in all of this.  SHE did something that can and has resulted in death.

Allowing your twelve to fifteen season old go to a great is a sure indication of adult carelessness. Irresponsibility on their aspect is what murdered their girl. Not the individuals advertising the celebration.

The only reason there was no ID check at the time was because the event was an all ages Festival allowing your 15 year old to go is just dumb of the parent but of course you know their response is always I had no idea she was going to such an event. What parent would say they know their child is attending a rave. The event is meant to be fun enjoy carnival rides along with your favorite Artist spinning live good vibes. What people make of their good time is on them she spent it under the influence and in the end paid the ultimate sacrifice. So I don't see how the promoters are held liable it was an all ages event.

In all honesty it's hers and her parents fault . Hers because she knew what she was getting herself into she should know her limits . Sucks that because she youngin's want to act dumb that other people end up paying for Their mistakes.

And because of neglecting parents like this, Is why almost 100% of teens are frowned upon, I love raves clubs etc etc But I'm not going there for the drugs alcohol or anything else involving raves I just go for music Its a tragedy that she had to die like that and at a young age Its not her fault its not EDC's fault its the parents fault my mother would let me go to a rave but with my oldest sister and I would have to be home by a certain hour Its the parents fault why she died of a Drug because her parents let her be exploratory probably never wanting to talk about what can happen with drugs or anything Drug related, Of course no teenager is going to want to talk about drugs they never do But dammit its not anyone's fault but the parents! And I'm not saying this so we can "Save The Rave" I'm saying this so those people don't get money because I think its unfair they don't deserve that money because of what They did, EDC wanted people to live and have fun and  go wild, Blame the parents not Electric Daisy Carnival.

I heard EDC has a 4 year contract with Las Vegas and they should be coming back to the LA.

its obviously the parents fault. its ok to go to a rave but you also have to make the smart decision on what to do at them. Party, not go get your self spent and scream YOLO...

i agree that the venue was negligent. as an attendee of this party, i was wondering why they didn't check IDs. but the idea that public officials are wondering why raves are held there?? ask the police. i've heard police say that was their favorite day of work out of the whole year because of all the awesome people that go. much better crowd than any metal show.

It's a shame that the girl had to go too soon, but her parents should've been keeping a better eye on their 15 year old daughter. There's a reason why an age requirement is set for EDC, and it's simply because some kids will do dumb things and not know their limits. Take too many drugs, don't hydrate properly, and die. I'm not saying she deserved to pass away, but its a risk she was willing to take by being young and dumb.

How was EDC or the Coliseum the negligent one? Weren't the parents more directly negligent in failing to supervise their own daughter?

The wrong people are being held responsible here. Unfortunatly we dont live in a world where the parents can be counter sued for ignorance. U Get that paper boo, yes sad that a 15 yo had to die for her family to get paid...where's the justice here. 15 year plan. step 1.has daughter, step 2. years of poor half assed parenting leads to teenagers natural desire for exploration, step 3. sue anyone with money who can be easily demonised thru ignorant media. 4. ProFIT!!??

People die at raves all over the world . The same as house partys, drunk driving bars, clubs . underage people too . Its just that this even is too big and can narrow in on particular people
