Duncan.
Update, June 11: Kevin Dwayne Green and Hopeton Bereford Parsley have been arrested in connection to the murder.

A 23-year-old was fatally gunned down only a few blocks from trendy Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice last night, according to Twitter reports.

The website Yo! Venice! ID'd the victim as Oscar "ChoirBoy" Duncan, who was described as a youth minister who had attended Venice High School and volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club on Lincoln Boulevard.

The shooting at Santa Clara and California avenues happened ...

... sometime before 10:30 p.m., according to the reports, including an online post by Venice311.

That website said the victim was shot in the head or chest in what appeared to be a gang-related attack. Venice311 said the victim's mother was quickly at the scene.

Later, the site tweeted that police indicated the victim had died:

The attack was near the Oakwood Recreation Center, a park known for its past gang activity.

Yo! Venice! indicated that Duncan worked to stop the violence. He was part of an Inglewood group called Takeover Youth Ministry.

Oscar was such an amazing person and when I found out the news I could not believe what I was hearing.  I went to school with Oscar since elementary and this hit me so hard.  He was the type of person that made you want to take that bullet for him.  He was always involved in the community and devoted to Jesus.  He touched the lives of many including myself and I will never forgive those disgusting humans that took his life away.  I want to thank Oscars mother for bringing a wonderful human being to this earth and to the life of many.  Oscar we love you and miss you dearly.  I just cant believe you are not here.... So many people dont deserve to be on this earth yet again God decides to take you....

Oscar would NOT condone behavior that misrepresents the love and compassion of Christ. Through his loss of life we need to remember gods mercy love and prevalence even in the most bleek of times. Oscar was a role model, a mentor, a friend, a man but most importantly a man of god. I will never forget the positive striking impact I've seen god create through his hands, but most importantly I won't forget that it was god that held him in those times and even still now. Don't fall short because of a lack of perspective. God is love and God is good.... Sometimes? No! ALL the time! RIP Oscar Duncan, thank you for showing us a life in Christ is the only one worth living!
