Fire away.
You may have noticed, today, upon scrolling down any one LA Weekly story to leave your angry tirade in the little angry-tirade box, that the experience was a whole lot more awesome than you remembered.

Indeed! The march of progress continues apace here at the Weekly (and throughout the entire Village Voice Media chain)...

... meaning we just hooked you up with an uber-interactive new commenting system. One that will surely bring us closer and see us thrive as one big big angry family! Here's how it works:

Real Time Conversations

You can see who is listening to a conversation and read comments in real time, making it easier to jump right into the discussion.

Talk to Your Social Network

When conversation is happening about an article on Facebook or Twitter, you can now see that conversation within the commenting thread. You can also tag and import your friends from Twitter and Facebook within the comment stream yourself.

Notifications

You can choose to be alerted via email when someone replies to or likes your comment.

Follow Your Friends

You'll be able to see what your friends are saying and doing on our publications and Voice Places now with this one account.

To get started with our new commenting section, just click "Sign in" in the new comments section. You can sign up with Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google or email.

"THIS APP WILL RECEIVE:

Your basic info (which is A LOT of info already...why do you need it all?)

Your email address (why?)

Your BIRTHDAY (why?)

Your location (why?)"

And I like to choose each time (with a check box) whether to share my comment with my timeline or not...usually not, b/c I don't want my friends' replies to become public.  Instead, I'll share the link to the article and my comment the difficult way...it ensures the privacy of my FB friends' replies to my comment.

I will not just hand over all my personal info for data mining purposes !

Posting via FB on news articles is great b/c it's like a driver's license...it ensures a person's identity.  It improves the quality and authenticity of the debate...thanx for ruining that !

DEAR LA WEEKLY: Your new FaceBook Posting App is ridiculous in how much personal info it demands. Congratulations on ensuring that I will never post via FB on LA Weekly again. YES WE DO CARE ABOUT OUR PRIVACY (as I'm sure all of you do, too)...CATCH A CLUE !
