The shark.
In a scene reminiscent of Jaws, fishermen 15 miles off the coast had to tow in an estimated 900-pound shark Tuesday: It was too heavy to get on the boat.

And it broke the scale.

It all culminated Tuesday when the fishing boat docked at Del Rey Landing, according to Marina Del Rey Patch:

The report says these guys actually went out shark fishing with a bucket of chum in-hand. Be careful what you wish for?

Del Rey Landing general manager Craig Campbell told NBC Los Angeles that it took 8 men to get the shortfin mako onto the dock's 750-pound scale, which promptly bent under the stress.

Scary?

The catch follows a reported citing Monday of a great white off La Jolla Shores in San Diego, which was promptly evacuated.

Campbell said most of the sharks they see at the Landing are in the 350 pound range.

Have a safe summer.
