Torrance Panhandler Bites Woman in Neck for Refusing to Give Him Money

(Not the suspect.)
Bums of southwestern L.A. County, gone wild!

Torrance police say a panhandler waiting outside a small hospital called Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center assaulted a female employee early Saturday morning as she walked into work. "He initially asked for money," says Sgt. Steven Jenkinson. "But she didn't give him money and kept walking."

We hate to fear-monger, but dude's alleged revenge tactics were very zombie apocalypse:

The transient ran up behind the woman, grabbed her shoulder and pushed her up against a hospital sign, according to cops. Once he had her in that vulnerable position, Jenkinson says, he sunk his teeth into her neck, leaving behind an unmistakeable bite mark. (Although as far as Jenkinson knows, no blood was drawn.)

The victim understandably freaked out, pushing away vampire bum and attempting a getaway. But before she was able to duck into the hospital, the man managed another blow to her face.

And just like that, our mythical creature was gone. Via the Daily Breeze:

Other employees checked the area, but could not locate the man, who was pushing a shopping cart.

He was described as black, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 140 to 170 pounds. He was unshaven and smelled dirty.

The sergeant tells us that the suspect, as described, isn't known as a regular in the area. His only known attack occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday "by the front sign of the hospital, between the hospital and the restaurants in the area," says Jenkinson.

The incident "appears to be very isolated," adds the sergeant. "We haven't seen anything similar to this at all."

The same cannot be said for San Diego: Just last month, a man with "vampire teeth" who appeared to be homeless was arrested for attacking another sleeping bum outside CVS.

As of this morning, the unshaven South Bay zombie-vampire is still at large. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Torrance Police Department's detective unit at (310) 618-5570.
