In the wake of the city of Los Angeles' decision to close all pot shops in town, some of you were thinking, Fine, I'll just go to Orange County to get my "medicine."

Not so fast.

Federal authorities today cracked down on several marijuana dispensaries in Anaheim and La Habra, ordering each and every one of them to close and ...

... moving to seize the assets of three property owners because they are housing what the feds allege are illicit pot shops.

Those shops, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office statement, include:

-AAA Wellness Center and Anaheim Patients Association, both at 503 N. Anaheim Blvd., both of which, feds say, have also been issued closure orders by the city of Anaheim. Both of those shops were also raided via search warrants this morning, U.S. officials said.

-Releaf Health & Wellness at 2601 W. Ball Road, also the subject of an Anaheim cease-and-desist letter.

-Premium Organic Treatments PCA, Mid-County Patients Association and DKG Group Corp., also targets of city closure orders, at 3148-3164 E. La Palma Ave.

Letters warning property owners and operators associated with 66 dispensaries in Anaheim and La Habra were also sent out, the U.S. Attorney's Office said today.

Authorities said they believe 38 of the 64 Anaheim targets were still open; others have already closed, apparently. The two La Habra dispensaries targeted in the warning letters were raided last Thursday, too, feds said.

The warnings give those folks with still-operating dispensaries 14 days to close their doors.

The forfeiture lawsuits state:

While these marijuana stores purport to be 'medical marijuana dispensaries' operating pursuant to California law, and claim to be distributing marijuana for medical purposes, such distribution is not a recognized exception to the [federal] Controlled Substances Act.

Do you hate the idea of corrupt public officials and the whole criminal fraternity laughing their way to the money launderer? Then fortunately for you there is one last peaceful avenue for change: Jury Nullification.

Jury Nullification is a constitutional doctrine that allows juries to acquit defendants who are technically guilty but do not deserve punishment. All non-violent 'drug offenders' who are not selling to children, be they users, dealers or importers, clearly belong in this category.

If you sincerely believe that prohibition is a dangerous and counter-productive policy, then you must stop helping to enforce it. You are entitled to act according to your conscience:  Acquit the defendant/s if you feel that true justice requires such a result. You, the juror, have the very last word!

* It only takes one juror to prevent a guilty verdict.

* You are not lawfully required to disclose your voting intention before taking your seat on a jury.

* You are also not required to give a reason to the other jurors on your position when voting. Simply state that you find the accused not guilty!

* Jurors must understand that it is their opinion, their vote. If the Judge and the other jurors disapprove, too bad. There is no punishment for having a dissenting opinion.

“It is not only [the juror's] right, but his duty … to find the verdict according to his own best understanding, judgment, and conscience, though in direct opposition to the direction of the court.” —John Adams

We must create what we can no longer afford to wait for: PLEASE VOTE TO ACQUIT!

@Alemajandra WTF? Not enough serious crime to keep them busy? That is such bullshit!

@moxiemuchness I know, don't they have more important things to worry about?

@Alemajandra Seriously. People can smoke nicotine and drink themselves to death, but the freedom to chill and raid the fridge is illegal.

@moxiemuchness @Alemajandra Exactly what I was thinking. Except I called them fucking assholes.

Unbelievable stupidity of the L.A City council, and now Orange County! The state of California is near economic collapse, so it wastes time and money going after legal medical marijuana dispensaries! It's so stupid to fight marijuana; it is effective, safe, and has over a thousand years of use. Marijuana is a very healthy food if taken as an edible, not smoked. There is a great $2.99 e-book on medical marijuana: MARIJUANA - Guide to Buying, Growing, Harvesting, and Making Medical Marijuana Oil and Delicious Candies to Treat Pain and Ailments by Mary Bendis, Second Edition. This book has great recipes for easy marijuana oil, delicious Cannabis Chocolates, and tasty Dragon Teeth Mints.

@muzzylu This was the FEDERAL government going after them, not the state. The STATE has not spent a dime going after pot stores. This was Obama going after the stores. And they are coming to LA City next.

@dennisjromero @LAWeekly To be clear, this is Obama's Justice Dept. doing exactly what Obama said they wouldnt do when he was a candidate.

What ever happened to only going after shops near schools etc?   What's next?

michael1399
michael1399

@sandydog that's a state rule. Doesn't apply to the Feds. The Feds are looking for big $$$ forfeitures which are all in LA City and they can't wait until ASA and UFC770 get their signatures.

@michael1399 It has been reported in the past that the feds were only going after shops within 1000' of schools, etc  in violation of both state and federal laws.   Our state (so called) leaders should be up in arms.    If state laws are being broken the state should handle it.    Let me know when the feds start going after the dispensaries in Wash DC.

@Alemajandra Fucking assholes. The US government could make so much money if they would just make MJ as legal as alcohol.

This is exactly what will happen in LA City if the dispensaries are successful with their referendum. The Feds are lickin' their chops.
